I've gotta say, kvnty's breathed some life into a stale thread here. He certainly knows his stuff better than some of the so-called "buffs" around here.
It is amazing how such a revolting fop is so enamored with gross old people
Ha! Fop. Great word.
So, Liquid Sky 2 is happening. If anyone else here cares.
Anyone seen Enemy, the new one from Jake Gyllenhaal and Denis Villenueve? It's bizarre, uncomfortable and consistently intriguing in a way very few movies get. Gyllenhaal plays a history professor who sees a movie and is amazed to find his doppelganger. He tracks the guy down and things get odd quickly. I really dug it, even though it was incomprehensible at times.
Bmack, I actually watched Enemy last night at a friend's place. Loved it though I think overall I prefer Denis Villeneuve's recent film Incendies. I never saw Prisoners, the other film he made with Jake Gyllenhaal. Did you?
I loved Prisoners and look forward to watching his other movies especially Enemy because Gyllenhall was so fucking great in the former.
Apparently Lee Daniels wanted to direct Prisoners and cast Oprah as the character that Melissa Leo played. Really, really fucking glad that didn't happen. Can you imagine?
Help me, was watching a few minutes of Rocky IV on tv, anyone know why one or two extras in the Apollo funeral scene are blurred out to the right of Stallone? So weird. It was on CMT, were there maybe too many black people on the screen at the same time or something?

What I really love about the new Godzilla movie is that the story isn't focused just on Godzilla. It centers around a search and rescue mission while Godzilla is stomping the shit out of San Francisco. Godzilla isn't portrayed just as giant monster terrorizing people, he (she?) is a force of nature, like a tornado or a hurricane. Nothing man made is going to stop it.
That sounds a lot like the film it was based on. Godzilla.

So I watched Saving Mr. Banks last night. It was OK, nothing to special. Have to figure it being a Disney movie about Walt Disney I guess I don't know what I was expecting. I also wasn't expecting it to be a depressing movie as it was and didn't think Collin Farrell was in it just as much if not more then Tom Hanks was. Emma Thompson did do a great job in it just don't think it was an Oscar worthy performance from her.
Certain songs they get so scratched into our souls
