Default dubstep: haters bring it here

what is with the hate for dubstep and related experimental music? i realize there is alot of monotony and copycat bullshit filled with the same wobbling bass, but at the same time there are a whole slew of upcoming producers that are pushing out some bangers and also some beautiful tunes. artists such as dusk + blackdown, zomby, flying lotus, hudson mohawke, headhunter, distance, skream, mala (digital mystikz), and of course burial are all pushing forth with this new sound and i personally think some of these artists are fucking brilliant.
so i'm just wondering why there is so much hate for it

sort of, but no one really addressed the issue of why there is so much hate for it

Oh. Well. Gee, I don't know...

MAYBE BECAUSE THERE IS NO DUBSTEP HATE ON HERE?

Or maybe your real motive is to post so many topics about dubstep hate that everyone starts to REALLY hate on dubstep... You fiend!

I just realized what your avatar is. PF sent me one of their songs awhile back, and it kicks ass.

Actually, it is a remix of a Renegade Soundwave tune from Leftfield. But still, they were involved.

I don't hate it per se.

I just think it's sooooooo overrated.

I do hate DnB tho. With a passion.

I just think DnB sounds like cock rock from the late 70s with all this Pendulum stuff.

It went from Jungle rave to hip hop club music and now it's gone to stadiums for Bon Jovi fans and I just ain't in touch with it anymore. Sounds really camp as well.

Dubstep is better but it basically is stripped down UK 2-step garage isn't it? It's nothing amazing. There is much better dance music out there, like hardcore and house for example, which constantly reinvent themselves.

yeah, this has been talked about before.

i hate it. it's fine if it's just a track or two slipped into a mix, but i don't want to hear an entire set of it. it's just not my thing. i don't like dub when it comes to reggae either. both don't seem to go anywhere in my opinion, it's just noise.

people don't all have to like every kind of music ya know.

The problem with most genre based electronic music is how empty it is. Copy/Paste form... Most dub is boring in that respect. To call dubstep as a genre experimental is ridiculous. There are certainly experimental artists that have pushed forward with certain formal considerations from dubstep (gas and porter ricks come to mind, and a lot of the folks who came out of basic channel's influence).

I mildly enjoy dubstep. I hate this thread, though, if that counts.

Luna is an old school London Jungalist. He hates everything after 1997. I'm really just fucking with him. I helped him out with a bunch of old hardcore tracks from 1992. I get he doesn't like Pendulum but jesus let it rest...lol

He is talking about the dubstep scene in general. There are a few regular nights in LA for dubstep. I actually like the genre a lot, the parties are fun as hell too.

There be a lotta good greenery when dubstep is involved...though, there are a ton of douchebags--however, that could be said about any music genre...

I think dubstep receives more hate outside of the US than it does in the US. Why? Because it's more popular over seas than it is here. Dubstep exploded in the UK and such places and electro (justice, SMD, etc) exploded over here. Theres a lot of hate for electro in the US, and a lot of people like it. SO THE POINT IS. The more popular something is, the more people there are to hate on it.

I agree though, psychoc&ndy should stick to posting pics of herself.

I actually love..LOVE dube reggae. It's fucking trippy.

Dubstep isn't trippy. It can be in the odd tune. Generally it's 2 STEP GARAGE.

It sounds more like 2 step uk garage dizzee rascal nonsense than anything dub related IMO.

I just listen to happy hardcore and bassline house now like T2 and Niche. It's a lot more twisted than dubstep IMO, but already it's getting shit. When a style gets popular it usually gets shit cos people make choons to make money so in bassline you're getting remixes of DJ Luck and MC Neat tunes which is killing it for me. The good thing about dubstep is the garage kru haven't tried taken control of it.

I think people take dance music waaaaaaayyy too seriously. I remember when people were making jungle tunes in their bedroom FFS and they get one dubplate adn that's it you never hear that tune again and it wasn't for getting into the charts.
