Treasure Island Music Fest returns in September
    Tue Feb 26, 2008 at 01:22:35 PM
Everyone who trekked out to Treasure Island Music Festival last year knows what a blast it was to see a bunch of bands (Spoon, M.I.A., Modest Mouse) at such a breathtaking locale...while, say, riding a Ferris wheel to boot. Well the good news is Noise Pop and Another Planet Entertainment are gearing up for round two at the end of September. Full release below. -- Jennifer Maerz

NOISE POP AND ANOTHER PLANET ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCE 2nd ANNUAL TREASURE ISLAND MUSIC FESTIVAL TO TAKE PLACE SEPTEMBER 20th & 21st 2008

Feb 26th—San Francisco, CA—After an immensely successful inaugural year, Noise Pop and Another Planet are excited to announce that Treasure Island Music Festival will be taking place on September 20th to 21st 2008. Picking up where last year left off, the two-day celebration promises to feature a stellar and diverse lineup of music in the most breathtaking setting: smack-dab in the middle of the San Francisco Bay on the historic Treasure Island.

Organized by the creators of the Noise Pop Festival, one of the nation’s longest-running music festivals, and Another Planet Entertainment, nationally established independent concert promoter based in Berkeley, CA, the Treasure Island Music Festival has been called a “full blown love affair” by SPIN.COM, and has SF WEEKLY boasting that “NorCal has its own Micro-achella.”
“We are excited for the next chapter of Treasure Island Music Festival,” states Allen Scott, Vice President of Another Planet Entertainment. “Based on the buzz created from last year's event, many artists want to make Treasure Island their fall tour stop. We look forward to announcing the full line-up.”

“Thankfully the response to last year’s event was overwhelmingly positive,” adds Noise Pop co-owner Jordan Kurland, “Our goal with the second installment of the festival remains the same - to present a diverse line-up of artists that you will not find at any other festival in a setting that is impossible to replicate.”

A full lineup of bands and activities are forthcoming, but for up-to-the-minute information on Treasure Island Music Festival please visit (treasureislandfestival.com)

Sweet. I had a great time on Sunday last year. Between this and Outside Lands, I should be seeing some great acts this summer. Can't wait for the Outside Lands lineup as well as this lineup.

Announcing a festival with no lineup is so pointless. I can't keep track of anything except Coachella, especially not when it's just a vague promise of a "stellar and diverse lineup" which surely means Jack Johnson and the other 20 'in' bands that are making the festival rounds this year. Release a lineup and ticket prices and I'll care but until then, jeez.

Radiohead won't headline, but this is a big NO SHIT, of course Treasure Island was going to happen again, but its 7 months away.

Still don't get way APE is doing 2 fests so close together when there is absolutely nothing steller going on in the area between now and Outside Lands which is in freaking August.

APE has Outside Lands (large three day fest) and Treasure Island (smaller two day fest - less acts as well I'd think)

GV has Coachella and APW (scaled down version)

Superfly has Bonnaroo and Vegoose (their scaled down Bonn)

    2013 = 12 Coachellas

Outside Lands is also a Superfly production.

In related news, I hope the Outside Lands festival line up gets anounced before next Saturday. Or atleast a partial line up.

It wont, and I wonder why, you want to choose between Sasquatch or Outside Lands right? Take Sasquatch, and then see Radiohead on their own in Vancouver ok? You want more regrets if things dont work out?

But that means I would have to travel to Seattle again to see a second Radiohead show... but if I miss out on earlybird Sasquatch tickets and Outside Lands is disapointed, then Im screwed.

you can probably think of a thousand ways to justify selling your tickets to Sasquatch for more than you bought them for, but don't. Buy 'em early bird, if you like Outside Lands line-up more, stoke someone out and sell them your 3-day pass to Sasquatch for exactly what you paid and make arrangements to go to SF. everybody wins and nobody is "screwed." you just like to worry about stuff you don't even know if you're really going to have to worry about. if you truly like the Sasquatch line-up, stick with that gut instinct and go, but suggesting you're "screwed" about whether you get go to this good gig or that one is nonsense. be happy you're out seeing live music. this isn't some sort of competition.

I went on Sunday and it was freaking amazing...the green transportation both to and from was totally smooth, the weather and the view were perfect, the venue was well thought out, the set times were designed so that you could see every performance w/o having to choose 'tween any bands and the food wasn't bad either.

Dude, get Sasquatch and you will sort out Radiohead later. Whats wrong with you man. And you would be traveling to SF to see Radiohead play in a festival setting, instead of on their own and its a different thing dude. You wont get the full effect if you see them playing with 50,000 people around you squishing and pushing and whatever else they would do. You will see them in Vancouver and Seattle, everythign will work out, stop stressing yourself over nothing. SASQUATCH!! I wouldnt be telling you this unless if it was for your own good.

I don't know how they expect to fill two festivals in two months in the same city. not that I'm complaining -- if both have strong lineups I'll be over the moon -- but it seems like a lot of people might miss one for the other, those who cannot afford both. it would make more sense to spread them out a little more.

I want to see Radiohead in GA setting though. Considering T-bird stadium is out of commision for the summer, I have no idea where Radiohead will play in Vancouver. And unless its Dear Lake Park, it will have seats. I guess if they play the Gorge, it will be GA. But I am hoping they play Auburn, because I don't wanna drive 5 hours.

If they split up the genres again and boast a decent electronica/international lineup, I'll definitely be going. Last year was a good time.

I think there's enough good acts to go around amongst 2 smaller festivals in the same area, even if only a month apart.

    Disclosure - October 12 - Reno, NV.
Treasure Island Music Festival - October 19 - San Francisco, CA.
Portugal, The Man - October 22 - Reno, NV.
Cut Copy - October 31 - Reno, NV.
    Phoenix w/ Alt-J - December 5 - Reno, NV.

TI festival does not compare to what Outside Lands should end up being - TI was very constrained on space, and I could see that continuing as a mostly locals festival, with Outside Lands being a destination for out-of-towners.

Keep in mind TI had less than a dozen bands per day, and only one stage active at a time.
