this has been covered in other posts but yeah it sucks that you can't go. this is a major festival with major bands in southern california. festivals do sell out
your personalized five step guide to getting tickets
1. be mature
2. be smart
3. buy a 3 day pass
4. sell the other 2 days
5. stop bitching
That sucks my friendIts the same over here, glastonbury sells out within an hour on a sunday morning! and that accomodates the best part of 150,000!! To be honest I was in panic mode on saturday booking coachella, thought that would sell out within a day.
I am sure money has a BIG part of their strategy, but it also makes it a festival and not three one day concerts. There is a large portion of the Coachella experience derived from the sharing of the entire festival with so many people.
They must be trying for force people to buy 3-day passes. Fuck 'em. I'd say my Coachella days are over. It's been fun, but the money grab has really left a bad taste. It was too crowded last year anyway.
Believe it or not, they actually probably do care more about the people buying three day passes than the people trying to get one day tickets... and why wouldn't they? Coachella is a festival and is designed as a multi-day event, in which they keep in mind that people will be there all three days. If they released 40,000 single day tickets that would limit the number of 3-day passes available, screwing the people who truly are the bread and butter of their clientele and ensure that the event happens year in, year out.
Hunting has been part of our society since the first Europeans came over and shot buffalo and Native Americans and whatnot.

Quit bitching and buy a 3 day pass.
I'm sick of all the poor ass dead beat whining bitches here.
I have 2 Saturday passes... Give me a shout at volcom_stone77@hotmail.com.
I won't rip you off either.
Oh hey im sorry asshole, I forgot that its just me that has money problems. I get paid on the 1st and 15th of every fucking month douche. I am in the military and I am about to be getting out, there is financial hardship. I was hoping that it would be nice to come out and see my favorite band. But maybe i should be happy that i couldnt get tickets. As for buying 3 day passes, I dont have $250 to spend on 3 days. I wish i did but i dont. So dont come down on me calling me a poor ass dead beat, sorry I wasnt born with money in my pocket fucking cock smoker.
Oh and for the record, COACHELLA IS TURNING INTO A RICH MANS FESTIVAL. How much is a ticket to Bonnaroo or Lollapolooza or a KROQ festival? You tell me? $300? I dont think so.
Bonnaroo is like $150 for 3 days. Lolla it depends on when you get tickets because they do price increases, but a 3 day for them was like $140. KROQ Weenie Roast is $55 a ticket. Inland Invasion is $90, $60 and then $35 for the lawn. And Acoustic X mas is $75 a ticket plus all your charges.. Coachella has always been about experiencing it as a whole, not just parts of it. Yes certain things will stand out after its all said and done, but AS A WHOLE is how it will be remembered. People will say "remember Coachella 2007? That WHOLE WEEKEND was awesome." then they will site certain performances. Stop whining, you shouldve saved money starting back in november when they announced dates like a lot of people did.
On a side note: Glastonbury in England costs about $300 USD for 3 days.
I have an extra Saturday one day pass, I will sell it for what I paid $106. If anyone is interested shoot me an email mrfangmeier@yahoo.com
well i was predictable that Saturday would sell out so quickly, with bands like the arcade fire, the Decemberists and the New Pornographers.
Austin City Limits is $115 shipping, the whole bit. 3-day festival...very solid bands. I've gone the last 3 years & had a blast. Thought the price for Coachella was kinda steep but said what the hell & bought a 3-day pass. Coming from TX so I'm gonna have to miss Friday. $290 is very high but hell its CA.....we'll see. Cheers
That's $115 total...taxes, shipping, everything....
no dust storms at coachella tho.
i was gonna say this too, but then i realized, he's just a huge rage against the machine fan who recently heard that they were going to reunite in california for one night and now he's pissed he didn't get a ticket. he doesn't give a fuck about the coachella experience.Stop whining, you shouldve saved money starting back in november when they announced dates like a lot of people did.
sir, please correct me if this isn't the case.
Ticketsnow.com...they have plenty of saturday tix
You are not correct, I am not a huge Rage fan. I have seen Rage before. I would rather go and see Red Hot Chili Peppers, I have been in Hawaii in the Navy since the chili peppers have had their second coming. I am getting out of the navy in March and I want to see my favorite band play. I have never seen them, The thing that gets me is this is coachella. Ive been to Coachella before, I was lucky enough to see my third fav. band at Coachella 01 Janes Addiction. I dont have the money to stay all weekend at Coachella, I dont have $300 to pay for the whole weekend. I am a fan of Rage and I am a fan of Bjork. I am a fan of Coachella. I would love to be there!
ok so chris, we have to concede that our whole "if you save up over the course of the year since you know coachella is gonna be during the last weekend in april and you generally know how much it's gonna cost and what other expenses you need so it shouldn't be THAT much of a burden on you when ticket sales come around during the end of january" schpeel doesn't really work on the casual coachella fans.
Never presume to know strangers' financial situations, especially strangers on the other end of a debate. My choice to use scant money for Coachella tix instead of rent or other monstrous bills wasn't the smartest thing in the world to do and will likely hurt me in the long run, but I dedicated myself to living in the moment. I'm sure there are plenty of situations somewhat like mine to match up with situations somewhat like yours, and I sure as shit am no rich man.
Had you chosen to be a part of that Coachella online community after last year, the presale through that would have left you $223 short, not $300+ or whatever the amount is for a normal 3-day pass plus extra charges. Maybe that cost difference would have made a difference, I don't know. Still, worst-case, $300 to pay for seeing maybe a dozen shows each day -- call it 36 for the weekend -- works out to about $8+ per set. That approaches Fugazi levels. I look at it that way, and I consider Coachella and many other music festivals to be pretty damn sweet deals. YMMV.

Did all those people get screwed in previous years? I don't remember hearing tons of complaints from those who were unable to get 2-day passes.
Instead, they're stuck selling the tickets they don't need.
Sorry, smells like greed to me. Not that they don't have every right to try to make as much as possible, but it's giving me second thoughts.
i'm sure plenty of people are going to be selling single day passes, including saturday. if you just try looking around a lot, you'll probably be able to find one. also, you could do what a previous poster said and buy a 3 day pass. you KNOW you can sell friday and sunday.
just don't scalp. scalping is fucking lame.
Meaning that people are buying 3-day passes just to get tickets for one day. Thanks Goldenvoice.
I'm also seeing that they're planning on selling as many tickets as last year. Last year was bordering on too crowded to be pleasant. I get less and less excited every day. The magic is melting away for me.
Maybe if it looks like Friday isn't going to sell out, that may be worth going to. Although I like that lineup the least.
sneak in, the best spot is behind the horse stables
God, yookeroo, stop. They sell the three day passes because they don't want this to be a Rage show or a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert. It's coachella, and they are encouraging the sales of three day passes by limiting the single day tickets. As such, they are promoting the FESTIVAL rather than any single band. It's best taken as a whole.
haha. funny.
Pretty much every festival in the world sells day tickets and entire weekend tickets too. If you think this is just a Goldenvoice plot to make a bunch of money, you're a cock. Naturally there will be people will be people who only want to come for one day, and with the lineup looking so good it will sell out very quickly. The weekend passes will sell out soon too. They're only allowed a certain amount of people in the arena each day by law, and they give everyone a fair chance.
Ok....you're pissed, it happens, they don't cater for your individual needs, the magic is melting away....... nobody really fucking cares.
