Default summerfest world's largest music festival

according to the website, its the world's largest music festival
it takes place for about 2 weeks-June 26-July 6 in Milwaukee, WI
I went 2 years ago when Tom Petty played with Pearl Jam at the marcus Amp and it was amazing-but besides that, I thought the rest of the festival was only mediocre
Has anyone ever been there at all or is considering going this year?

i live 20 mins away from it and i might go. it is only the biggest fest in the world cause it is 11 day so their attendance is bigger then others. really the line-up is not very good. always a few good shows to check out but over i think it sucks. it is a huge gathering of meatheads and collage kids. i also was at the petty (who is playing there this year 2)and pearl jam show. this fest is geared towords everyone so the music is really all over the place.

I just read the site, this is the line up they have...

    June 27th - Rush
June 30th - Rascal Flats w/ Taylor Swift
July 3rd, Tim McGraw w/ Jason Aldean
July 5th, Tom Petty and Heartbreakers w/ Steve Winwood

Do they usually add more, or is that the entire festival??

I think the strangest festival ever is the one they mentioned on Pitchfork..

There's usually a lot more bands, but they drip feed the headliners for a few weeks before they fill in the blanks. The headliners playing the main stage cost real money ($50 plus) to see, but you can get entry to the grounds and unlimited other bands for about $15 per day.

As far as content goes, there's a smattering of "decent" bands (Spoon played last year), but it's mostly the State Fair type crowd of has beens and never wases. For example, it's just the place to see Foghat, or the remaining members of Styx plodding their way through the back catalogue one more time for a bunch of pissed up Midwesterners.

Every now and again you'll get nuggets, such as a blues legend or two, or Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint. We were given free tickets one year to see Ben Harper with our old friend Jack Johnson supporting. 3 songs into JJ's set I could take no more, and we left, gave our tix to some student chicks and checked out Steve Winwood going thru some old Traffic tunes instead.

Oh, and Morris Day and the Time play pretty much every year, so there's that!
A teenage dream, so hard to beat...
