My interest has definitely waned, I completely forgot that I even started this thread.

I'm convinced that the new album is going to be disappointing, anything better than that will be a surprise at this point. My expectations are low.

I agree. I barely half care about the upcoming album at this point and im sure it wont live up to a 10 year hype.

They've spent most of the decade running away from a "sophomore slump." There is no way its gonna be as terrible as some have said. But then again, if the creative juices were flowing then I think they would have released something by now. We'll see. It doesn't help my cofidence that DJ Shadow hasnt released any quality material since ...endtroducing. The Avalanches and DJ shadow have always been lumped in the same boat.

bumping this in the hope that

    1. They will be @ coachella 2010
    2. At a minimum we'll get the 2nd album by then?

last I heard they were trying to clear copyright issues before they released it but that feels like a long long time ago. Regardless I'd really like to see either (preferably both) of the above scenarios happen.

The Avalanches are great but the hype has totally killed the chance of them doing anything amazing. If they play they will throw a awesome set but it will feel lacklustre compared to the ten years of waiting for them to return with something mind blowing.

When the new album is given an exact release date... hype will begin the build up quite quickly. This year would be perfect for The Avalanches.

2002 would have been perfect for The Avalanches! 2003 and 2004 would have been pretty cool. 2005 super keen. 2006-2008 would have been just short of awesome. 2009 would have rocked. 2010 will be just fine thank you very much.

I don't know about that. Take Weezer for example. Had they just released the Blue Album and Pinkerton and then disappeared they could have been legends and done huge reunion shows. But instead they came back and released albums that seem to get worse and worse.

I wonder if Paul T has tried to book The Avalanches before. And if so, how many times has he tried?

Yeah if they played I would love it, but I now find myself caring less and less. Still would not miss it.

Listened to the album this morning for the first time in a year and having them or The Knife would be huge, especially if it's in addition to either Orbital or Underworld.

Ten years since the release of their one and only album, the Avalanches' follow-up to Since I Left You may finally see the light of day. A spokesperson for the notoriously secretive band has revealed that the long-awaited LP will be "finished" once guest vocals by chillwave crooner Ariel Pink have been recorded.
