Default your top 10 all time favorite tunes

post 10 songs that are timeless to you, that will never get old no matter how many times you hear them. in other words, think of the cliche "..songs i would take with me on a deserted island if i had to pick 10"

here's mine (in no particular order)

La Femme D'Argent (Air- Moon Safari)
Hallowed Be Thy Name (Iron Maiden- Number of the Beast)
Da Grind (Masta Ace- A Long, Hot Summer)
Digital Love (Daft Punk - Discovery)
Playground Love (Air- The Virgin Suicides OST)
Fight Test (The Flaming Lips- Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robot)
    Dreams (Fleetwood Mac- Rumours)
Telephasic Workshop (Boards of Canada- Music has the Right to Children)

    Idioteque (Radiohead- Kid A)

Robert Plant would probably be on there somewhere too.

    1.A Blind Man's Penis - John Trubee
This is a 45 I have owned forever. It was some kind of "You Can Be A Songwriter" ad in a magazine, where you send in your lyrics, and they send you back a 45 of some third-rate country act performing it.So this weird punker lunatic named John Trubee wrote the most fucked-up lyrics he could think of,sent them in,and got back one of the greatest recordings known to man.A completely sincere,Hank Williams-tinged recording of lyrics like:
I got high last night on LSD
My mind was beautiful, and I was free
Warts loved my nipples because they are pink
    Vomit on me, baby
    Yeah Yeah Yeah.

A blind man's penis is erect because he's blind
    It's erect because he's blind
A blind man's penis is erect because he's blind
It's erect because he is blind

Let's make love under the stars
    And watch for UFOs
    And if little baby Martians
    Come out of the UFOs
    You can fuck them
    Yeah Yeah Yeah.

The zebra spilled its plastinia on bemis
And the gelatin fingers oozed electric marbles
    Ramona's titties died in hell
And the Nazis want to kill
    To kill everyone.

A blind man's penis is erect because he's blind

2.Life On Mars - David Bowie
3.On Some Faraway Beach - Brian Eno
    4.Little Man,You've Had A Busy Day - Sarah Vaughn & Count Basie
It was the last song in a play I did, called "Master Harold...and the boys" after a lot of emotional shit every night.
    5.Hearts - Marty Balin
Yeah,I know it sucks, but it instantly pulls me back to being an innocent 13 year old staring out the window of my room in Saratoga Springs,NY when the world was ahead of me and not on top of me.Other songs from that era do it too,but not as much, since they've gotten too familiar, like "In The Air Tonight" and "Hungry Heart".
6.X- I Must Not Think Bad Thoughts
7.Jonathan Richman - That Summer Feeling
8.Teenage Fanclub - What You Do To Me
    9.Sugar - JC Auto
    10.The Beatles - I'm Only Sleeping

I suck at lists like this...

    1. Beastie Boys - Jimmy James
    2. Bad Religion - Come Join Us
    3. Matt Nathanson - Suspended
    4. The Prodigy - Poison
    5. Arcade Fire - Neighbourhood #1 (Tunnels)
    6. Justice - Genesis
    7. Daft Punk - Rollin' and Scratchin
    8. Metallica - Orion
    9. Radiohead - Karma Police
    10. The Sounds - queen of apology

my list is wack... it would really be 10 beastie boys songs...but i figured i wouldnt repeat any artists... I enjoy these songs though.

This'll be a good way to spend my 1,000th post.

In no particular order, and with the full knowledge that I'm forgetting many, many songs:

    Joy Division – "Atmosphere"
    R.E.M. – "Nightswimming"
U2 – "Where the Streets Have No Name"
    The Clash – "London Calling"
    The Wedding Present – "Dalliance"
    The Beatles – "Dear Prudence"
The Mountain Goats – "This Year"
The Cure – "Just Like Heaven"
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – "Straight to You"
Elvis Costello & The Attractions – "High Fidelity"
    New Order – "Temptation"

As soon as I hit "Post" I'm going to think of a dozen more I could include, but I let myself have eleven songs in exchange for an agreement not to edit the list retroactively. I'm nice to myself like that.

Yes.I did it at South Coast Rep a while ago.It was the best work I ever did.I love Fugard.I got to meet him at La Jolla Playhouse and he is the friendliest person imaginable. He's kind of like a shorter, thinner version of Burl Ives Snowman character in Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
