Default Best British Albums Ever: Oasis #1 & #2 ?!?!

So apparently HMV music stores and Q magazine in the UK did a survey of the best British-made albums of all time, and it turns out that while we were listening to shit like the Beatles, Radiohead, The Clash, et cetera, Oasis was busy making the top two albums of all time.

Don't get me wrong, I think that Oasis are/were a talented band, and I liked both Definitely Maybe and (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, there is no way I'd put them at #1 and #2... I'd have a maximum of one of them in the top ten. Or twenty.

Overall, I feel like electronic music is criminally absent (with the exception of The Prodigy's Fat Of The Land, which should be higher than #38)- other than that, it seems like most of the right bands/albums are there, just in the wrong order.

Dude, that list is automatically completely FUCKING illegitimate by having 2 Keane albums in the top 15.

The Queen is Dead at number 16? LMAO.

These lists are always an utter failure. British publications can't do best album lists. They are a joke.

Even the author of the column admits it's a "dull list". "Exile" is the top Stones album on this list....at #48, and no Kinks album makes the Top 50.

    Whatever.

According to the criticisms levied above... Can anyone honestly say that these people have listened to a Beatles record before, either? I mean, if they're tossing Oasis discs up to the no.1 and 2 slot, it makes me think that the process was something like:

"Okay, so we have Oasis at no. 1 and no. 2, 2 Keane records in the top 15, and the Arctic Monkeys in the top 15 as well... How can we make our list more legitimate in the eyes of our readers?... Oh, let's just toss some Beatles records into the top 5. Doesn't matter which ones, in fact, I couldn't tell you because I've never listened to one in full!! Well... at least put Revolver higher, that album title is cooler!"

They're naming Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, and Abbey Road as the top three Beatles albums. This is a fair assessment. Until you have at least a passing familiarity with history's most important rock band, you have no business judging anyone else's motivations or taste. You, after all, are the one who listed a Muse album above, say, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, or The Jam. Your judgment is at least as suspect as anyone who'd put Keane in the Top Ten.
