that's kind of a dickbag move, but they're still fantastic

they're entirely pleasurable to listen to

you know now that I think about it if SNL wanted me to play, I would probably cancel any gig in the way

This band makes good music, but they do not have much depth. Their EP took off because of hype, so they were thrown a record deal. A good EP does not translate into a good LP; it seems they shot their wad a little too soon, and should have saved some tricks for later.

i know i know, a tiny vent, but seriously, a slot on a newly revamped SNL which premiered last week to its highest ratings in years or a set in the horrible humid, most likely raining dirty hippy jamfest in the Everglades?

how can you not go for SNL?

also, just saw them on the SPIN cover, had no idea what they looked like, talk about adorable!

I saw their 2nd song on SNL, and I hadn't heard anything by them before. Do they always have a string quartet with them?

I thought they were pretty spot-on tonight on SNL. Again, by no means do I feel like this is a can't-miss show, but I think it will be fun and pretty good for a Friday afternoon. I'm also wondering if they tour with the strings, because that would be excellent.

THey haven't as of yet. I've seen them twice, and they didn't have a string section either time. I'd assume that was probably the people who recorded on the album with them, as they are from New York, and this was a special show for them.

Well that's a bit of a bummer, but kinda what I expected. I'm glad they played "A-Punk" and "M79" on SNL, pleasantly surprised at the selection of both. I'll still hold out hope the string section shows up at Coachella, but either way I'm looking more forward to seeing their set in a little under 7 weeks.

All good things lead to an inevitable backlash. Too bad, especially if it is misinformed. Michael Jackson deserved the 1982-1984 "Thriller era backlash" not those decent lads in Vampire Weekend.

Vampire Weekend will have another album out in early 2010. They should play Coachella 2010!

I think they are a great band on thier album. Live, they are fair. Maybe their live act will improve next year.

How the fuck do you know what will happen with them? Just because they're getting a sudden rush of attention doesn't automatically mean they are overrated.

That FREE show was Great!!! I remember going to that park when I was a kid seeing that fucked up ass shell all tagged up and runned down thinking what a waste!!!! Little did I know that 25 years later I would be seeing a really good band play that place...it was uncanny and surreal. They played a sunset show to about 500 hundred or so people in east la for free... I really enjoyed the show while drinking a couple fosters and hanging with my little girl. I talked and thanked one of the guys for playing such a cool and intimate show. I told him that I had seen them play coachella and he said that they were going to play it again this year......good times.

Didnt really enjoy them when i caught their set at COACHELLA, kinda seemed to me to be one of those bads that you had to listen to first on album before you could see them live. Like you needed to know a few of the songs first so you could sing along.

But as it turns out I will be traveling to Vasalia this upcoming monday w/ the Growlers, as their scheduled to play a show together. Should be a load of fun, im def willing to give Vampire another shot, guess Ill just have to get listenin' to the album.

    ^^^
so i guess that takes care of the "Should i ask them if theyre playing COACHELLA"
