Damn, no "In Memory Capsules" either. That's my favorite off the new one.

Wow! More material possibly coming our way
    Q&A with Ben Browning:
Weíre going to raise the stakes with our live show, really take it to another level. And hopefully we can put something else out soonówe certainly have a lot of material, so we might try and release another EP or something this year.
I loved the Mojave tent for Cut Copy but if they're playing Coachella next year i'd give them a Main/Outdoor evening set.

Ahh it's hard not to look at setlist.fm before the show this Friday.

ORRRRR, we can go back to circa 2007, when Awesome dance acts played in the Sahara, such as the memorable LCD Soundsystem into The Rapture. God fucking. Damnit that was such a fun night/slash weekend
Superfan will be in front of the Fonda masturbating furiously to a photo of him taking a photo of a band. Set is from 8:05 to approximately 8:05:15. Guest list only.

Upcoming Shows: Nocturnal Wonderland Saturday, Cut Chemist/Dj Shadow - Palladium, Massive Attack SB Bowl, Festival Supreme, Coachella 2015

Fun, fun show tonight. Not the Mojave in 2011 (few things are, right?), but an enjoyable night. The local crowd did pretty good for being a local crowd on a Wednesday night. Few if any signs of rust from the band -- you will all be in for a treat over the next few weeks.

They played a lot of In Ghost Colours. It was probably good for the casual fans that they hit that album hard, and that they didn't go overboard on the new songs. The new songs were great; definitely a Happy Mondays feel in the live band setup. Wish they could have played more of them. Would have also liked some Zonoscope deep cuts, but hey, I can hardly complain when the show was this much fun.

Here's what I remember the setlist being:

    Free Your Mind
    Where I'm Going
    Feel The Love
    In Memory Capsule
    So Haunted
    Hearts on Fire
That Was Just a Dream (a great surprise -- a first album deep cut fleshed out into full disco glory)
    Far Away
    Strangers in the Wind
    Take Me Over
    Out There On the Ice
    Let Me Show You Love
    We Are Explorers
    Need You Now

Meet Me In a House of Love
    Lights and Music

Was sooo much fun! They were so on point, and very engaging- I don't know about you, but I found a very nice pocket of party people to dance with and loved the costumes. Yay for randoms buying us drinks!
I think they said they were serenaded by David Chappelle? is that right? and they met the Jazz? did i hear that all wrong? because that would indeed be the best day. Glad they had a good time entertaining our little city of salt.

I am still salty from the sweat.

I think what he said is that he was serenaded by Chappelle (who performed in town tonight) and that they caught the Jazz game against the Thunder (opening night was across the street tonight). Jealous that they saw Chappelle; I didn't buy tickets to see him because of this show. They're huge NBA fans and I mentioned before the show that I wouldn't have been surprised if they tried to catch some of the game.

Thanks! The couple in front of me were blabbing during that part. I think it pretty awesome they caught some of the game- perks of the location. I too was wondering how popular Cut Copy was- since I was trapped in a sinkhole by shirtless giants at the Mojave 2011, I couldn't tell how many people were there- had no idea what to expect for a small lake shitty show. I gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. I love the beautiful people of this city, what a gorgeous crowd!

Too bad I didn't know you were there. Woulda cheers'ed you.

I'm tempted to drive out to Houston for their show there from Dallas, even if it means going solo... even though Shlomo and xxyyxx is playing in Dallas same night along with Johnny Marr, but I know I'll have much more fun at Cut Copy's show.

True. Just found out my friend took a picture of him on the second level from below. Dave Chappelle was getting down with his hands up and everything.

This is one of his pics from facebook that he let me steal.

Cut Copy was so good on Friday! Very intimate show in Portland...I doubt id be able to see them that close again. It really is all about finding the right crowd to dance next to for their shows. It's so funny/awesome when you see everyone copying Dan's overly dramatic hand motions hahaha...a lot of jazz fingers.

This is pretty similar to what I saw...at least it was the same for the beginning and encore. We got Zap Zap mixed in after That Was Just A Dream...I havent heard that song live since 08

Just wanted to chime in on this how big are Cut Copy discussion from the last page back. While I would love to see Cut Copy on the mainstage before Arcade Fire, I don't think they are anywhere near that level. At Mountain Oasis, the theatre they performed in was barely half-full when they started, about half-way through their set (when Pretty Lights was starting in the arena next door), the theatre nearly emptied out and for the last half of their set they played to a less than 1/4 theatre. When they ended, there was probably 200-300 people in the theatre max.

After the set ended I went next door to see how full Pretty Lights was... and the 7,000 person capacity theatre was nearly full. I couldn't believe. Before the fest I figured Cut Copy and Pretty Lights were pretty much the same level of draw, but I couldn't have been any more wrong.

I think Cut Copy are definitely a bigger draw for a fest like Coachella (their 2011 set in the Mojave is evidence enough of that), but I can't imagine them on the mainstage. Certainly not at night, anyways. If Cut Copy are at Coachella this year, I would think a night time set on the Outdoor Theatre would be the most likely.

With all that being said, Cut Copy was amazing at Mountain Oasis. The new material sounds great and the old stuff is still a total party. Although their crowd was small, those that stuck around until the end were partying hard and dancing and singing and it was great.

I can't imagine the xx on the main stage... but it happened. AND they subheadlined. Are the xx bigger than Cut Copy? My educated guess would be "no" considering they play the same size venues. Regardless, Coachella is a bit of a wild card these days anyway. I mean, Phoenix headlined and they were billed 4th-5th at every other festival they played that year (I think). Cut Copy would destroy the main stage IMO.

Cut Copy is headlining the SnowGlobe music festival in Tahoe for NYE. The other 2 headliners are Tiesto and Kaskade. Make of that what you will, but some promoter is willing to roll the dice on this album becoming huge enough to make them high profile.

This year Coachella booked not one, but TWO headliners that are not big in the States. It's clear that the powers that be give zero fucks about facebook "likes" or popularity in general. Cut Copy subheadlining isn't as nutty as some of you are suggesting.

Cut Copy were really fun tonight (as expected). I hope as they continue to tour they include more of the newer stuff. Maybe it's just because I'm so enamored with this album and have already seen them before, but I wouldn't mind if they ditched the old material almost completely.
