Just thought I'd bump this one...I can't get enough of these guys! I was listening to both their albums non stop yesterday and I am SOOO excited to see these guys.

Here is another awesome remix of Lights and Music...my favorite one so far. Check them out!!!

Cut Copy - Lights and Music (Boys Noise Remix)

Most of their songs posted on myspace are from their new album:

I like Bright Like Neon Love more than their new one, but both are on repeat for me.

OK, I've changed my mind...after repeated listens, In Ghost Colors is emerging as obviously superior to Bright Like Neon Love.

Okay, does anyone else feel that this band is just rehashing -albeit informed by house- the same parts of electronic Britpop sounds that were even corny back in the 80's? The better new bands that borrow this heavily from retro sounds are at least cheeky about it. This stuff just reeks of a lack of inspiration. It's pleasant and all, I guess, but it's missing the spark that made bands like Depeche Mode legendary and classic house producers so much fun. Some of their tracks might make some dancefloor magic if tweaked a bit, but they'll need to lose a lot of these inane lyrics. This is a nice band. Nice, but unfortunately... forgettable.

Yes, there is some rehashing, but mostly early 80s: The Fixx, Simple Minds (pre-popular), Spandau Ballet (pre-"True"), Duran Duran (first album), New Order, and so on and so forth. My thought on the rehash thing is that if a particular genre was never fully worked out, never fully appreciated, why not give it a second try? A lot of 60s bands 'rehashed' 1920s blues, but that didn't make the music any less compelling or worthwhile. So, here's to Cut Copy doing an awesome and, in fact, better version of what originally was!

If I wasn't going to Coach, I'd be doing the "Bay Area" Coach too -- so many good acts coming through town!

Cut Copy's great. They'll be one of the best sets on Friday.

I do agree on some of the lyrics being corny, but that's all part of the fun. For me it's more about the rythm of the music than the words being sung.

In Ghost Colours is a great album. not sure it's better than Bright Like Neon Love, but definately on par.

Really? It's a good summer jam. Looks like they're looking for an audience participatory "Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!"

Also, they're mixing their 3rd album this August...so Cut Copy for 2011 is looking very possible.

I've decided there needs to be at least 5 bands/acts I really, really, need to see at Coachella 2011 to get me to go there, and Cut Copy is definitely one of them. Their Windish Agency page says that they'll be doing a headlining tour in 2011, so I wouldn't doubt that they will be making a few festival appearances.

PS DFrank I'll be at Vessel next week too!

    8/16: Anthony Naples, Maxmillion Dunbar @ f8

9/3: Bear in Heaven @ The Independent
    9/24 - 28: Decibel Festival
10/5: The War on Drugs, Cass McCombs @ The Fillmore
