I'll be honest, and say that I haven't heard like any Portishead. What are some good songs that I could listen to? let me know your fav's.

Every song they've produced is quality. I suggest you just go ahead and buy both of their albums ("Dummy" and the self titled album "Portishead"), you wont be disappointed.

But if you really want me to suggest just some tracks, some of my favorites are ( i got alot):

    from "Dummy"
    -Mysterons
    -Sour Times
    -Strangers
    -Wandering Star
    -Numb
    -Pedestal
    -Biscuit
    -Glory Box

from "Portishead" (self titled album, and my personal favorite out of the two)
    -Cowboys
    -All Mine
    -Undenied
    -Over
    -Humming
    -Mourning Air
    -Seven Months
    -Only You
    -Elysium
    -Western Eyes

well, i just about named all the tracks on both of the ablums, so i highly recommend you just buy both.

PS. Where in Chicago? Naperville here

Don't forget Sour Times. That is probably their biggest song, relatively speaking.

Just get Roseland NYC, which is their only live album. Even better if you get the DVD. Amazing. Simply Amazing. Oh, and bmack86, I hate to disappoint you, but Fujiya and Miyagi are playing in Scotland on the 28th and 29th. So while it's possible they could play on Friday then fly to Scotland, it doesn't seem likely.

Talking heads would be sick!!! But hell i'd even settle for David Byrne solo.
He puts on a great show, and throws in a couple TalkingHead songs for the faithful. Saw him in seattle @ the showbox. He introd a song by mentioning a friend from Waco TX had helpd him write it. I drunkinly yelled "NEVER FORGET WACO!!!" and Byrne laughed into the mike. I can die now!

That's kind of a ridiculous statement, seeing as Valarie doesn't even LIKE Portishead, so she can't really objectively argue that. And also, Portishead only put out 2 albums, so the volume isn't there. In any case, I'd much prefer Portishead.

I agree. They could play at noon and I'd still watch them. D'uh.
I also think Coachella should add someone like Justin Timberlake to draw the crowds away during Portisheads set.

I don't understand and i'm freaking out because of this lineup(i love it but i would've loved it regardless of who played, i think it's all the buildup and waiting and guessing...) but who does this thread say no portishead or why or something other than who thinks billy crystal is funny???

btw i'm freaking out and its not like me. okay maybe a little like me.

...yeah...the Portishead/Tom Waits - PJ Harvey/Mars Volta - Saturday and Sunday seemed like the last set of originals for Coachella to book. I suppose its a tough bunch of talent to schedule.

oh well...anyhow, I recently rediscovered just how ferocious the track 'Cowboys' was on that second album.
