As you can see by the dates, this years tour was around the time of Coachella - but they didn't even get asked to play. I'm pretty sure they'd jump at the chance if it fitted in with their spring schedule. Since winning the Mercury prize they've started playing stadium size shows over here.

AGH! England has no aftermarket ticket outlets. Both of the Elbow & The Hallé shows are already sold out and no one on eBay is selling them.

Not being able to make it over to England in July to see their two nights with the Halle is quite possibly the most painful concert-related miss of my entire life (so far)...

Mirrorball (Abbey Road / Orchestral Session)

There aren't many bands (if any) I can say that I love every single song they have ever written, but Elbow is definitely one.

    You've been warned...

Elbow for giant Manchester homecoming gig
'It'll be the biggest show we've done' says Guy Garvey

Elbow are set to play a show at the Manchester MEN Arena on September 18 and then, according to frontman Guy Garvey, "disappear" from the live scene until they finish their next album.

The band are billing the event as a special homecoming show that has extra poignancy as the venue is located within a mile of Blueprint Studios, where they recorded their hugely successful latest album 'The Seldom Seen Kid'.

"It'll be the biggest show we've done," Garvey told NME.COM. "Then we'll disappear for a couple of years to work on a new record."

See the new issue of NME, out tomorrow (April 29), for the full interview with the Elbow man.

Tickets for the show go on sale on Friday (May 1).

Probably just 2, but still, if you've missed them so far this is probably your last chance to see them in all of their Seldom Seen Kid greatness. They won't be playing the virtually the whole new album on the next tour.

Either way, I guess I know what my favorite album of 2011 (or 2012) will be.

Elbow cannot be given enough awards:

Elbow awarded freedom of Bury with 'Slumdog Millionaire' director

Elbow have been given what could be considered their most prestigious accolade yet – the freedom of their hometown Bury.

The multi-award winning band were given the accolade on Monday (May 11) alongside 'Slumdog Millionaire' director Danny Boyle and paralympian Zoe Robinson, who also hail from the town.

Elbow singer Guy Garvey told the Manchester Evening News
that the honour compared well to their Mercury, Brit and NME Awards wins of recent times.

"In some ways this was the highlight of our career so far," he said. "It's great to be at home with Danny and Zoe. You go to some ceremonies and they are televised and the celebrities are there, but this was the real deal."

Oscar winner Boyle added: "It's been lovely to get this award. It's the generosity and spirit in which it's given that makes it so important."
In celebration, here is some random Elbow goodness...

It's because the shows in my sig are the only ones that can fit and they're on 7/22 or something like that. It'll be there in the next week or two.

Well, if you haven't listened to Cast of Thousands and Leaders of the Free World definitely do so, they are both amazing albums. But this is a list of the songs they will potentially play at the gig so make sure you are at least familiar with them:

    Starlings
    Bones of you
    Mirror Ball
    Leaders of the Free World
    The Stops
    Any Day Now
    The Fix
    Mexican Standoff
    Grounds for divorce
Loneliness of a tower crane driver
    Switching off
    Station Approach
    Some Riot
    Newborn
    Puncture Repair
    Weather to fly
    One day Like This
    Scattered black and whites

The U.S. shows last spring had two female backup singers who also played violin. Here they are during "Mirrorball":
