this shit is hot. it has been too long...
It is definitely different for them but its a pretty great.
I think the stand-out tracks are:
"Tape Song"
"Last Night of Magic"
"What New York Used To Be"
"URA Fever" is still fuckin great though.
i wasn't expecting much but what a pleasant surprise, this album is really good. on first listen, i quite possibly like it better than No Wow.
i believe The Childballads are opening for The Kills on their upcoming tour so that's added incentive for me to buy tix.
this record is lean & tight with the right amounts of "pop". at under 35 minutes, it's over all too soon, which can be a good thing i guess. it has been a long time since i have encountered a situation where i enjoy nearly all the album's tracks.
i also hear varying kinds of sounds with this record - "What New York Used To Be" starts off like a Peaches song, "Black Balloon" makes me think of a song Garbage could have done if they hadn't lost their potential, and there are instances where i am reminded of the YYYs and Be Your Own Pet even.
i have seen the kills before but i am excited to see what this album translates to live.
Actually, I'm glad you brought up Garbage.
Because VV sounds just-fucking-like Shirley Manson on this album.
Kinda weird. Not sure how to feel about that.
I can't wait to see them here in Portland.
But it seems SO FAR away.
Oh yeah..
I should also mention that since I started this thread,
the album has leaked out to a bunch of other sources so..
yeah, you could probably find it other places as well.
