i'm sure all contracts are negotiable, the bigger bands probably have more power to get what they want.

No, they didnt. and yeha, we kind of saw that last week when they posted dates. Considering they are playing a GV venue after Coachella, do you think they are losing any money with that? No, they arent. How many acts ''broke contract' last year playing in l.a. that week leading up to and following coachella?

not all the bands have an exclusive contract with the festival, so chances are no one broke contract if they played shortly before or after Coachella. Why dont people understand?

Do you know what GV's contract says? Does it say they can't play any SoCal city? Or is it just Los Angeles? I've never really thought about that.

So, there still are chances for Autechre to play Coachella then since people were saying it was a no because their show at LA the weeks before the festival.

I don't remember any of those shows being announced prior to sell out save for the annual Glass House warm-up gigs.

No, we are discussing like a day after they play coachella, they are playing l.a. stuff like that. Erik how have you not seen loudQUIETloud? I like it. It sucks they omit all of Coachella from it though.

Thats not the point though. the point is any shows being announced around that time, regardless of sellout or not.

I forget which band it was we were working with, but they said it was clause that said unless they received consent from Goldenvoice, or if it was a free show that was only promoted on a college campus, they weren't allowed to play the Los Angeles area for (I think) 2 weeks on either end. I took that to mean LA, Orange County and probably Riverside area, although bands don't frequently play there.

So San Diego should be excluded then, I assume. That's what I figured. So even if they had that clause...I mean they didn't break shit cause like Chris said, it's a Goldenvoice venue.

Also, a lot of times, bands can announce other shows once their first one is sold out.

Does GV pay more to the band to get them to agree to that clause?
