From the episode "Caballo Sin Nombre’" -
There was another reference to dipping sticks in season 4 as well, when Jesse is ordering the methhead in his house to make sure there's enough pizza for everybody in the house when he gets home from work, and he tells him to also make sure to get dipping sticks.

I think Pinkman is, without a doubt, my favorite character on the show. It's those damn one liners!

    0:20 for the pertinent part.

Caught up with the entire show over the last week or so. So much to love.

That first episode was one of the funniest in awhile. In no small part thanks to Mike. "You know, I can foresee a lot of possible outcomes to this thing, and not a single one of them involves Miller Time."

They knocked it out of the park with tonight's episode. Very nice mix of intensity and some comic relief. Mike is a bad ass, but letting Lydia go could very well come back to bite him and everyone else in the ass.

Yes, great episode. The hour went by fast.

Back to last week, any guesses as to what was going on in the intro? Was the Denny's in New Mexico? Walt said it was 30 hours by car from New Hampshire. Why would Walt have a fake ID that had the same birthday as his own? Or was he just getting into his fake character by pretending it was his birthday? (Nice throwback to the first episode with the bacon birthday age by the way.) Why would he have a New Hampshire ID and car? Did he actually go there, start some kind of identity and drive back?

What purpose would be served for him to lie in that environment?

Rick pointed out that the shot of Mike and his granddaughter playing Hungry Hungry Hippo is like Walt saying "there's gold in the streets, waiting for someone to scoop it up"...

i could almost see the twinkle in hank's eye during the end of that scene.

i'm guessing walt has the gun and errything in the flash forward from last week because he's about to go out in style. i don't recall exactly how mike worded it last night, be he told walt it wasn't going to end well. my guess is that's the beginning of it 'not ending well'.

Perhaps this foreshadowed Mike letting that terrible woman live, making her, in effect, the fourth hippo of their operation. There must be four hungry hungry hippos. Notice that when Mike was playing, he said, "Why do you have two, but I only have one?" Jesse and Walt are a team, but Mike is alone.

and also that the granddaughter would grow up to be as fat as a hungry hippo.

Or. maybe the scene required Mike to be playing an excited table game with his granddaughter to contrast the sober important phone call that interrupted it. It's just hungry hungry hippos.
