    Here we go ...

Fracking likely linked to groundwater pollution in U.S.

    Nothing to worry about

why the hell would this matter if there's nobody there?

it's a ridiculous notion anyway considering the race will be gone long before we're anywhere close to being able to do such a thing.

Here's the thing. We drill wells to access oil & gas reserves. So these are locations that are, by definition, already "polluted" with hydrocarbons. Most of the time, they're not in close proximity to fresh water because the water itself would eventually disturb the formation. It can happen though; I can almost guarantee the gentleman in the video has natural gas leaking into his well. It does happen from time to time, and would occur even if we weren't drilling at all. Its probably not due to fracking.

We've been fracking here in Alberta for 60-odd years now, so its with some bemusement that its become the new boogyman.

I think the difference might be that the population densities in the areas where it's happening in the northeast.

and yes it is in large part a new boogyman.

We've been building nuclear reactors for as many years. Sometimes they blow up.

Note that this case involves fracking as shallow as 1600' which is unusual.

Are you saying that you are skeptical that fracking is causing problems? I don't understand why. Fracking serves to essentially make the barrier between the oil & gas deposits and the fresh water more porous. It would seem to make intuitive sense then that in those instances where the two formations are close enough together, some pollution might occur. The EPA are the experts though, not me (& not you either, I don't think, correct me if I'm wrong) and they seem to believe there is science supporting this.

I've heard claims in the mainstream media that fracking causes earthquakes. It may make the ground rumble, but its hardly capable of triggering tectonic events.

I'm saying that the two formations are seldom close together, and that the guy in the video's problem is probably just naturally-occuring gas seepage.

Nope, not an expert. I do unrelated IT work for an Oil & Gas firm, took a week-long industry course, and my ex-roomate was a petroleum geologist who i've discussed this with.

Have any of you experienced this?

    Architects of Air

There are six seperate floor plans. Mirazozo is currently on display here in Austin. It's such a unique experience. So soothing. I could see one of these at Coachella soon.

It's an uncritical observation of a naturally occurring phenomenon. It has literally nothing to do with science. Dick extract.
