What bands does everyone rave about that you can't stand?

no, no big hits here. i only know them cuz i lived in whistler for a little while a couple years ago, and they were pretty big at the time. i saw them in san diego in a little club last year and hardly anybody was there, i felt bad. they put on a great live show though.

AH the one time I went to whistler I was too sick to go to the mountain .... My friend drove me and another Calgary friend from Vancouver... As soon as my flight landed in Vancouver it was like I instantly had the worst cold ever.... Ended up watching croc hunter while they were at The Boot, and the mountain.

Kraftwerk - yeah they're "OG" but the outdated speak-n-spell sounds have got to get old after a while. They belong at the Smithsonian. I'll still watch them though out of curiosity. Some of their songs I like.

yea, honestly i tried listening to some of their stuff before the '04 coachella, and it was so bad i didnt check them out. im still kicking myself since i hear they killed it. i guess i have a 2nd shot now though.

and to be honest im not that into daft punks records either, but thank god i went and checked them out anyway in 06...

I live in the city they're from (Victoria Canada) and I do not understand how they've managed to get a following in the U.S. or ANYWHERE for that matter. It's like listening to a rake scraping a chalk board whenever the lead singer sings. Their first single from a few years ago, 'Bandages' is absolutely horrendous.

That's the most positive sounding negative review I've heard. I like sulky. I like film noir.

-No Doubt (not exactly raved about here but has been popular)

-not too sure about Gogol Bordello but will attempt to see them live

Yeah, I cannot listen to a full song of Gogel Bordello on their albums. However, I am considering going to their show in SLC before coachella, but am worried the Coachella show will be better than SLC show, just because it's coachella. I am also worried though that I wont see them at coachella due to conflicts so I should see them in SLC I am really torn about this.

I have watched youtubes of Gogol Bordello's live performances, and based on that information I decided I had zero interest in seeing them at Coachella 2007. Energetic bouncing around on stage and silly outfits don't make me like their music any more than I currently do. I won't see them at Coachella 2008 unless they're up against empty four stages and even then maybe not.

Not trying to hate, just saying that they are a very divisive band and not everybody is going to enjoy them, even live.
