Lately...I've been wanting to get into the Beastie Boys.
I hear "Licensed to Ill" is an amazing album...
Does anyone reccomend anything?

just get their boxset.
Not licensed to ill. If youw ant like the really good stuff, that woudl be Pauls Boutique, Ill Communication, Aglio De Olio, and Hello Nasty. Also if you just want a mix of everything, just get The Sounds Science. Its a double disc covering pretty much their whole career.
License to Ill, Ill communication and Check Your Head, and Pauls Boutique are all great. LIcense to Ill is the more silly, fight for your right to party mid 80s hip hop. The other stuff gets pretty out there, more alternative. Like a heavy Beck.
I would also highly recommend the Criterion DVD of their music videos. You can find it for cheap now. They have some great videos
This is not a collection of every Beastie Boys video, but, for the most part, it provides a solid sampler of their work: (Disc One) 1. Intergalactic, 2. Shake Your Rump, 3. Gratitude, 4. Something's Got To Give, 5. Sure Shot, 6. Hey Ladies, 7. Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun, 8. Body Movin', 9. So What'Cha Want.
(Disc Two)10. Sabotage, 11. Shadrach, 12. Three MCs and One DJ, 13. Ricky's Theme, 14. Pass The Mic, 15. Holy Snappers, 16. Root Down, 17. Netty's Girl, 18. Alive.
Then I will hold you down and spit her percolations all over you until you're as greasy as the day she regrets pushing your big fat ass out her big fat cunt.
Dude, can it, go do your homework.......
I would say my favourite is Ill Communications for sure.
I can sleep in till noon anytime I want
Though there's not many days that I do
Gotta get up and take on that world
When your an adult it's no cliche it's the truth
Paul's Boutique is still the only Beastie Boys album I own, aside from the Greatest Hits that I got from a friend (but that doesn't really count). I love Paul's Boutique but I could never really get into the License to Ill stuff.
Pauls Boutique would be in my all time top 10 (along with about 100 other albums). Check Your Head has a great mix of songs too.
I still remember seeing them at Reading Festival, when they first took to the stage with instruments - it was a WTF moment.
Pauls Boutique....their best album hands down...if you are a Beastie Boys fan and dont call that cd your fav, then you are probably not a real fan... The album is front to back, start to finish perfect. Licensed To Ill is a very fun cd, excellent rhymes, some great classics...Paul Revere, She's Crafty, Slow and Low, Hold It Now, Hit It... id say if you were gonna download their cds start with:
1. Pauls Boutique
2. Check Your Head (excellent cd aswell, check out Jimmy James, Professor Booty, Pass The Mic)
3. Licensed To Ill
4. Anthology: Sounds of Science
5. Hello Nasty (Super Disco Breakin, Unite)
6. Ill Communication (Sure Shot, Do It, Sabotage, Root Down)
7. To The 5 Boroughs ( Thats It, Thats All; Shazam, 3 The hard way, Right right now now)
if you are still interested, and wanna hear their punk/hardcore stuff...
8. Pollywog Stew (Egg Raid On Mojo (1 of my top 5 tracks), Transit Cop)
9. Aglio E Olio (8 songs, 11min...good shit)
if you reallly are still interested
10. Country Mike (country album they released to 100 friends/family)
I almost forgot... their 2007 cd, The Mix Up. Its purely instrumental...and its very jazzy/funky cool tunes...I dig it alot.
Beastie Boys are a very diverse band, and thats why I love them.

Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
I love the B-Boys and they were my favorite group for many years, one of my favorite concerts was watching them at Red Rocks
anywho....i would start out with the most accessible overall imo
Licensed to Ill and then Hello Nasty
then if you like grab Paul's Boutique next
followed by Ill Communication and Check Your Head, and then to round out the main album collection grab To the Five Boroughs
or just buy/download the anthology, whatever suits you. you would be missing out on b-boy bouillabaisse and flute loop though, which would be a crying shame, but it might be a fair trade off because you get some Country Mike.

why hasn't any one give a shout out for the mix'up...that album is grooven and the only thing that sux about it is it's toooo short!!!
Nobody ever agrees with me but Hello Nasty is by far my favorite Beasties album. I think it's probably because it was one of my first rap albums and was my first Beastie Boys album but still listening to it today it blows my mind. The production and Mike's scratches are killing it, the instrumentals are sick, and the entire album fits together so well. I donno, it's just a personal thing but I really really love Hello Nasty.
I want to see them again on a headlining tour. I saw them right after 5 Boroughs came out and they were awesome even though they're like 45 now.
Hello Nasty was the 1st thing I ever heard of the Beasties, and I agree, its fuckin excellent, very diverse album aswell. I think its one of the last cds of our generation that has 20+ tracks on it...now ever single cd that comes out has 12 and whatnot
