I agree with U2 being #1 because I think that they put on the best stadium sized shows of any modern band. I have seen them 3 times (Achtung Baby tour and All You Can't Leave Behind tour) and they are one of the few modern bands who can comfortably perform to 75,000 people.
White Stripes is another good choice on this list. I saw them from the front row at Red Rocks Ampitheatre. Fucking amazing show!

But where is Tool on this list!? They put on the best show of any of the heavier bands nowadays. As does NIN.

Most recently the best shows I have seen were defintely NIN, Guns n Roses and Neil Young with Crazy Horse. Axle Rose blew me away! Great performance and Show!! And NIN what can you say, just go see them if you have the chance, simply amazing...

Yeah, I have a bootleg of that show (along with about 100 other PJ shows). The version of Jeremy they did is the only time I've heard it played like that.
