just impressions of various bands, i'm sure there way off, shallow, poorly thought out and the like. Haven't seen most of the bands live so, take it for what its worth. Anyways, everyone doing their own research and has different taste, but thought i'd post. (Ducks from incoming flames)

Edits: Took out word 'acoustic' from vampire weekend' and bumped up, added Battles

First song I heard from Modeselektor was "The White Flash" ft. Thom Yorke. It was some good chillout music. But I guess that's not their typical style. They do stuff like "Hasir" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDwGHUHfUkA. Look forward to checkin them out

I've seen a lead singer play the drums too.

    They're called The Eagles.

Thanks for putting this up. Friday is really the only day I was considering going to and this list may have pushed me over the top. Will go thru more of these links (very helpfull!) to gauge the bands better, but off the cuff I'm thinkin (so far):

Verve - saw em at the Pond in Anaheim. I was very stoned and it was very good.
Breeders - just to bounce around a bit
Madness - people speak of them having 'legendary' status so might as well see what all the fuss is about
Architecture in Helsinki - fun, poppy music
Slightly Stupid - my brother went to high school with them in San Diego so gotta support

took out word acoustic from Vampire Weekend (unless light, pop or rock is still objectionable, if so what category should i list as) so now light pop rock, still gonna be a miss for me. Ah the musicophiles, I knew like Phil Collins and Dave Grohl played drums, just didn't know they did it at the same time they sang, it's still new to me, glad ya'll know some. More importantly what do ya think of the bands, who will you see, who will you miss, beyond the JJ is bad/the lineup is weak threads

Wait wait wait... You put Minus the Bear in the same category as Death Cab for Cutie?

I love both bands, but that's fuckin' WEIRD.

Okay, so there are similarities between that one song off of Trans and MtB's other work.

MtB doesn't have acoustic songs like "I Will Follow You Into The Dark".

Nor does DCfC have near-prog-indie stuff like "Knights".

    Just saying.

But, like, if you were trying to convince the average listener to tune into MtB, then I can see where the conclusion can be drawn.
