It's not too out of the question. Maybe they'll plan it so they hit up LA before Coachella or something.

with all the bands that are not on the line up so far, i was most surprised to see that The Mars Volta are not on the line up. But I am guessing they are saving them for a late addition

Thats what im hoping and as far as 'rock bands' being added next week....would make sense concidering they are announcing their spring tour around the same time...

they were better in '03 and '04 as a live band. they've gone way downhill since 2005.

actually, on deloused through amputechture they had a drummer named jon theadore. He was a maniac, but their current drummer and theadore were totally different styles. Theadore apparently left to work on some solo stuff for zach de la rocha. I dont understand that move, but still... he's an amazing drummer.
    Does anybody feel this way?

It seems Jon Theodore was kicked out of TMV by Omar and Cedric. He wanted to chill/party/surf after and in between shows and they wanted to constantly work.

He was the most amazing drummer I've ever seen live.

Blake I think was next and that's the last time I saw them - he was terrible and it made the show kind of suck.

Thomas's playing is less dynamic than Jon but technically sound. He sounds good on the new cd - I'd love them as an add.

The Mars Volta put on a fucking amazingly incredibly awesome show at the Santa Barbara Bowl on October 14th, 2005. It was there last show of that tour and it was an evening with Mars Volta, no openers, almost 3 hours of music. simply brilliant.

and John Theodore left the band because he had a baby on the way

their current drummer has talent, lots of it, obviously, but no one beats John Theodore, he was perfect for TMV
