But the difference is that No Doubt has a back catalogue of albums that many of the posters on this board probably consider to be decent or at least respectable.

People are much more willing to be forgiving of artists that have a good back catalogue, even if their recent work is crappy. You don't see people complaining about Rilo Kiley being in the lineup, for example.
