I did a search, and it looks like I haven't posted this site (which is crazy, since I love it so much).
Check out Sutemos.net. TONS of great downtempo albums and comps available to download for free. I have learned about some great artists this way.

so my friend has been making IDMish music for a few years now... this is his most recent EP, "Propellerplane". His alias is "abstrackted".

please give it a listen, and tell me what you think. my friend would really appreciate any feedback from you fine folks.
your friend makes pretty nice music.
i wouldn't call that very idmish, but more ambient though. something like a mix of boards of canada and early ulrich schnauss but without much melodies. pretty cool.
that's pretty awesome. any hint when the new plaid comes out? looks like they have been playing new tracks in their last shows.

Anyone download Chromophobia by Gui Boratto when it was put up on emusic last week?
BTW ppl, Quiet Village is pretty good. I suggest you check out their new album.
Nope, I just haven't listened to it yet and wondered if anyone else was in the same boat and what they thought.
I will be here later today but if you want great soundboard live recordings here ya goes.

Oh shit! Glitch mob? Fuck yes!
Two recent finds I'm enjoying
Polestar - Camplex EP
Mrs Jynx - The Standoffish Cat
So I finally found Formica Blues at some record shop in LA.
Thank god, I've been missing this from my collection for a while.
Why the hell did Mono break up?
i like jynx a lot. i mentioned her in another thread, but i think it would've been better to do it here. anyway, this release has very well crafted melodies. all about melodies like the old times. dusty and chocolate oranges are great tracks. she used to post in another forum quite often until she got signed by planetmu.
and you should check leila. her last album is amazing. her mettle ep is great as well. i preordered the album and hope to get it by next week. you can listen some samples in warp site.
So I have been using Last.fm's similar artist function at work the last few months and have been able to pull some names that are really impressive. My two latest ones are:
Bola
Christ.
Anyone heard them before? What do you think? I am waiting for my eMusic account to update so I can grab the full collection of albums, but they both are pretty awesome.
What else are people listening to? I want to offer up another album or mix soon, so stay tuned.

I really dig this one...

So this pretty awesome band is opening for Bitter:Sweet at the El Rey this Friday. They're from Los Angeles and they're called Una. I'm really excited to see them.
Here is their myspace:

Portishead much?
Yeah I think.
Have fun at Bitter:Sweet, their new record is really good.
We need more activity in here.

I just got gas's gas 0095 reissue. classic idm/ambient album released originally in 1995. you can listen a 2 minute mix of the album and a free track here.
To the people who were on the receiving end of downtempo PM's here... you are a few minutes away from another PM. A global communication. One that is 76:14 long, but not your standard version. This is the limited edition version with a bonus CD of stuff you probably have not heard before unless you found an import version of the album (another 74 minutes of music).
Once it has been uploaded, expect a PM.

Lucky, if you wouldn't mind, drop one my way as well. I really really want to get more into IDM/downtempo/ambient stuff, and alot of the artists that are discussed in here.
You got it, man.

Casino vs. Japan works at the 'cool' record store in my city. Good to see some midwest love here (for once). Also, I agree with most of the things posted here, but didn't read pgs 2-5. Did anyone mention Tim Hecker's "Radio Amor" album. WOW. I love it.
(makitron from the old board)
That's awesome that he works at a record store. He puts out some amazing stuff. I just wish he would release a new album.
Hey there. I am hanging in there. It has been a pretty busy month, and it will only get more so. How have you been?
Despite my busyness, I have found time to discover a few new artists. Particularly, Bola and Christ. are rocking my world right now. I might need to upload a Bola album for the group soon, too.
