I just realized that I have no Squarepusher in my collection. How depressing. I must collect!

i have all his albums in cd but still need a few singles and lps. my aphex collection does lack a lot of material, though. it's not easy to get those oop records. the last ab5 copy i saw in ebay went for $1000. no way i'm paying that. i bided $700 only because i knew i would be outbided, though.

Over the past few months my musical tastes have been dipping into downtempo and I am curious about the Orb. I really dig the tracks I have heard, but their discography is huge, where should I start?

I'm almost 100% positive someone has done the Orb in the young'uns guide. Also, if you like the Orb, check out Nightmares on Wax (and yes, I'm whoring out my own guide to NOW in the young'uns guide).

Also, at Best Buy yesterday, I decided to pick up this chill music compilation disc, 2 CDs worth with stuff by bands I know (Supreme Beings of Leisure, Nightmares on Wax, Conjure One), bands I've heard of (Chicane, Weekend Players), and bands I've never heard of (Energy 52, L.S.G., The Thrillseekers, Push, Irresistable Force, Bent, Solar Stone, Accadia, B-Tribe, Dutch Force, etc.). I'll let you guys know if anything I find on there is good.

I honestly believe that the chillout comps are the best way to get into the genre. It helps introduce you to a variety of artists and their labels. You can find a lot of them for cheap, too.

    Seriously.

The one thing was that I was HOPING to use the tracks for radio play, unfortunately (but not really for regular listening) is that the tracks are mixed together like a fucking trance mixtape.

What this means is that, even though there are separate tracks, I'd kinda have to let it skip onto the next track for the song to REALLY finish.

I hate that too. It doesn't happen too often on the stuff I own, fortunately.

Recently I have been getting my dubstep fix by listening to Various Production. I'm not expert on dubstep, but I really dig what they do.

Anyone ever check out Lusine ICL? He is awesome! Just started getting into his work.

This is by no means his best song, but it gives you an idea of his sound.

great fucking record but I wouldn't consider it a dubstep record.

Thanks! I did have the iPod working on the beach on shuffle, and it did provide a nice soundtrack. The new Mogwai and Sparrow Orange albums got the most play, though.

How did you enjoy it? I've heard of most of them, but Bent and Irresistible Force are two solid ones.

Eh, it's a hell of a lot better than Versions or the Cosmic Game, my friend. RR represents a real return to form for T. Corp.

For the most part the chill comp is just sorta there. It was a while ago when I listened to it, and I've been really busy with getting a lot of new music recently, so I have to go back and re-listen to it to give you an answer.

The Cosmic Game was good and not really much a departure just a different blend of previous styles with a bigger emphasis on higher profile guests. Versions was a remix album. Your entire opinion that "RR represents a real return to form for T. Corp." rests on the notion that they ever lost their form. Based on all the times I saw them live between the release of The Outernational Sound and Radio Retaliation I would disagree... my friend.

Either way, this new album is awesome and so is Thievery.
