As much as most hate him I still love me some Otto von Schirach.

There is some good stuff in there, Pot. I really like the Plaid song. Were you able to catch them on their short tour?
I have some vids I'd like to throw out there as well. A little different than Pot's choices, to say the least.
I really dig Funki Porcini. He's got a dark nu-jazz thing going on a lot of his albums. Here's a couple of his songs:
B. Fleischmann
Isan - Not my favorite song of theirs, but they are really cool.
The Dining Rooms. They are one of the main groups that got me into this type of music.

Yeah I just saw Plaid with Mr. Projectile a couple weeks ago. It was a lot higher energy than I expected.
Nice links. I remember the Deep Forest, pretty cool. For some reason I associate them with Enigma and Dead Can Dance.
Would be cool if there was an extra stage, or after hours tent with Ulrich Schnauss, Zero 7, Air, Thievery Corp, the Orb, Kruder and Dorfmeister, type acts. WOot Chillout lounge

Hearing the tablas in that video has reminded me that Aloke Dutta has suffered a major heart attack. For those who don't know him, he is the greatest tabla player to ever touch the drums and has taught many of todays greatest drummers. He is one of the kindest spirits I have ever had the privilege of meeting. It will be a sad day in the music world when he is gone.
It sure does. Check out the festival's website here. The lineup was killer last year, too.
While it doesn't take place in the castle, it is right nearby. Check out that picture for Eastnor Castle while you are at it.

Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Biosphere, Seefeel...
That Deep Forest stuff is really cool. Definitely see the Enigma parallel. I actually really liked a lot of what Pot posted too, although it's not usually my style. Keep the posts coming. This is turning into a nice recommendation thread.

A great group for anyone into the more ambient side of things is The Dead Texan. I have had their CD for a year and a half and I still have to listen to it once a month all the way through. It's one of the guys from Stars of the Lid. Amazing stuff!
Also, here is the video for my favorite song of theirs right now (it has changed 5 or so times already): The Struggle. No YouTube for that one, though.

i know all the pretentious bastards on here are going to give me so much shit for asking such a dumb question, but aphex twin is one of those artists that has been an enigma to me all these years; ive had his selected ambient works vol2 for awhile now, and i honestly love it. but i havent gotten around to checking out any other of his albums. so here's the stupid question of the day, which album(s) do you recommend, and do all of his other albums have straight beats or are they all abstract as the album i have?
His albums are not all like SAW2. They go from ambient, acid techno to drill and bass and melodic stuff. And there are a lot of more sounds in his albums than those. If you liked the SAW2's ambient sounds but want them more upbeat, try SAW1. If you like melodic sounds, crazy drill beats and prepared piano pieces, try Drukqs. If you want Drukqs but with a more innocent/fun atmosphere or less 'serious,' try the RDJ album. If you like acid sounds and songs made with analogue equipment, detuned synths, try the Analord series. And if you like video games sounds, try Melodies from Mars.
u guys should google search this dude called Ochre...he gives away a ton of music on his website and he is as good as plaid in my opinion.
It seems like we have a revival of Downtempo/IDM discussion going on, so what better time to bring back this thread.
I will get it going again by posting an old mix that I posted sometime last year. I have never done any drugs, but I am pretty sure this should be a good mix to listen to when high.

This is going to be an utterly stupid question, but can I upload playlists onto megaupload for everybody to enjoy?
