    Thomas Fehlmann (an on and off again member of the ORB) will be performing live in Seattle with Lusine and Shen (aka Noah Pred) on April 10th. This is the only date that I have found so far.

    Claude VonStroke's Essential Mix for the BBC is rad. I need to get his Fabric mix.

    You should also get the Omar S Fabric mix. Because that thing is really good. Although not really a mix. More of like a greatest hits compilation mixed together.

    Anyone heard of Signal Path?

    Apparently they're a duo (again) and are an idm/trip hop/dubstep crew from Denver. They aren't bad and do a fair job of representing the 3 genres mentioned. They've made their most recent release available for free here. I like 'Is it Real' and 'Feel what you Feel.' Their Seattle tour stop has them playing with the New Law during my Spring Break for $10, tempting.

    I was there and putting Squarepusher and Plaid back to back was quite jarring. Squarepusher did a fully loud explosive set right before an almost too mellow plaid set that had me nearly unconcious, sitting in the back of the tent indian style, with my backpack in my lap being used as a pillow. That was first time I ever heard plaid. There were fully in Double Figure mode. Later in the same tent I watched an intense Tricky rocking Blowback songs and then fell in love with Sigur Ros. Had my heart broken by curfew BS and the orb. 2001 is why Coachella is such a big deal for me still.

    I actually dont use the term, but consider it a general term for experimental electronic based music that isn't usual specifically created for "situations". Historically electronic based music was "used" heavily for dancing, chilling out, or for sound tracks. I find the IDM labled music is created more for the sake of the music itself. Like most "labels" its stupid when you take it too literally.

    I guess that disqualifies Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Four Tet, Ulver, Telefon Tel Aviv from being Intelligent Dance Music, by your standards. But nice try anyway, dude.

    I loved Flunk's first album on Guidance! Hit that up back in 2003 and it was on heavy rotation for years. Their follow-up albums never captured me in the ways that For Sleepyheads Only did, though. I still would have dug seeing them when they toured, but alas, I was in Phoenix at the time so didn't have the chance.

    I suppose this is the best place to post this. I compiled and uploaded Resident Advisor's Top 100 Tracks Of The 00's. They didn't specify which versions for a lot of tracks, so I tried to get the original version where appropriate, and when I couldn't find an original mix, I went with extended mixes, and everything is 192 or higher. I listened through the whole thing so all the tracks should be alright. If there's any problems you come across, please let me know. Enjoy. (By the way, these are sort of big files since the average track length is like 8 minutes).

    I lucked into Flunk around then as well and I agree their followups weren't all that great. However, there are definitely some gems sprinkled throughout their catalog (4 lps and 2 remix albums).
    {not to mention their Joy Division/New Order covers.}

    Oh, Guidance Records how I love(d) thee. I'd been into the label ever since I bought my first few on vinyl from Derrick Carter at Gramophone Records in Chicago during Phish Tour of '00
