I think they needed more than 10 episodes too. They talked about it in the DVD commentary. They didn't have the normal 12, and they had to pack a lot into the hours they did. That's why things seem to move a little faster, and we don't really get to know the reporters very well. In season 2, for example, they threw a bunch of new characters at us. But they had a lot of scenes that were there for no other reason than endearing the dock guys to us. There were a couple of scenes like this with the reporters (Alma waking up early to get a copy of the paper with her story, Gus waking up in the middle of the night concerned about an error), but not nearly enough. Think about how well we knew Ziggy...we saw his dick like three times.
