Thread: What bands have disappointed you?

Default What bands have disappointed you?

Anyone here been stoked about a show only to feel let down at the end?

2006 - Massive Attack comes to mind (their sound just wasn't reproduced well live)

2005 - Weezer (ever since Rivers Cuomo changed they haven't been the same live)

2004 - The Cure (they looked a little worn out half way through the show)

I love these bands but was definitely a little let down. Any dissapointments for you? Please share.

(PS> I'm referring to shows at Coachella)

Yeah, I forgot to mention it but the Depeche Mode was kind of the same way at Coachella. I saw them in San Antonio, TX and really dug the music but for some reason was a little annoyed by their show at Coachella.

Depeche Mode kind of let me down. They played way too many slow numbers with Dave on lead when he performs so much better on the up-beat sleazy tracks.

Apparently not many people know that, but before and almost half way through the show, the cure had sound problems caused by the incompetence of stage/sound people. It apparently pissed off the band and the fans thought it was the band. the last half of the show was very intense though. I was very closed to the stage and the problems seemed minor there. I saw them after that and they still sounded like the best live band ever.

not only did the flaming lips in 04 disappoint me, but they pissed me off too. Antics are great...but i come to a music festival to hear music. 4 songs plus happy birthday doesn't count.

i agree, and i just like the old stuff better too.

beck, weezer, death cab, the bravery and franz ferdinand were all pretty blah.

New Order 2005 (my husband warned me that they don't put on a good live show, but I refused to believe at the time)

    U.N.K.L.E (James Lavelle) 2005 ... uninspiring!

I also found Coldplay to be pretty boring, but I wasn't really there to see them, so it wasn't a big deal to me.

2003 - Interpol (they were tired and it showed, much tighter other times I've seen them)

2004 - Trail of Dead (much better when I've seen them elsewhere)

2005 - Fiery Furnaces (just didn't enjoy them live at all)

2006 - Wolf Parade (wanted it to be amazing and it was only ok)

Yeah the bubble thing was cool but they weren't on long at all! I couldn't really think about them much because I was just trying to get as close as possible for my favorite band (who played next ).

You know, some of these bands mentioned are better for smaller venues too.

    Perfect example: Sigur Ros

I saw them at Bass Concert Hall and the Austin Music Hall in Austin, TX. Both were smaller venues, very good sound quality, and they played quite possibly the most beautiful music I've seen live.

At Coachella, they didn't blend well with the rest of the festival. I still really enjoyed them but felt myself wanting more when it was over.

I looked forward to Minus the Bear last year only to be disappointed after a few songs. They just had no emotion

2003 - Beastie Boys (wind issues aside, I was still very dissapointed)

I was bored by Depeche Mode. Their set would have been more exciting had they focused more upon the Violator and earlier material.
My Morning Jacket put on a more exciting show then Depeche Mode at last year's Coachella, imo.

2006 - Gnarls Barkley - Just becasue they were to big for the tent, couldn't get anywhere near enough to enjoy the music, but it seems like a lot of other people did.

How is Black Rebel Motorcycle Club not on here?

All their technical issues ... only one good hard rockin' tune (What Ever happened to my rock n roll) ... the rest, half acoustic, half people scrambling on stage figuring out what to do ... then they left 10 minutes early.

Wolf Parade's technical issues were also a big bummer

I agree with you! Massive attack was great. I also saw them at the Hollywood Bowl in November of last year, and they were still great.

Next to Daft Punk I thought Massive Attack put on one of the best shows of the weekend.

Massive attack was amazing, the sound for their performance was great compared to some of their other shows.

Weezer were the worst. I was so disappointed with them. Tegan and Sara pissed me off, but I never liked them, and only heard a few songs, so i guess i wasn't just disappointed, but rather frustrated that I had to deal with them to get a good spot for Arcade Fire.
