Giffoni started the festival as a chance for the noise kids to fuck things up. It's turned into a general experimental festival. Minimalism, glitch, some IDM, noise... Not just electronic stuff... and a hell of a lot of fun.

    It sounds intriguing...

I've heard of some of the artists but not a good portion of them.

I would have to study up before I would decide if I was going.

I am sure this is all of the most important music being created today. Yet you will never hear of 99% of them ever again after this post.

No. This is most definitely not the most important music being made today. Well, I would consider Giffoni and Whitman important, but many of the others are just part of the whole noise scene. There are plenty of artists there that you will hear about again if you care to.

BMack, it's the original fellas as far as I can figure out. At least Moebius and Roedelius. Should be grand.

I will post a mix Val. I'm downloading a bunch of the stuff I don't know now. I'll sift through it and post some of the stuff I like in a nice little package.

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=REEF0UV3

Keith Fullerton Whitman - biprosia part 1
keith fullerton whitman - biprosia part 2
    demons - grey lady
    emeralds - vicious
    expo 70 - eagle talons
    james plotkin - afyon
    keith fullerton whitman- modena
    Lasse Marhaug - Philomela
    macronympha - mock trial
    religious knives - adam
sickness - fuck your punk rock side a
the skaters - dispersed royalty ornaments side a
tony conrad - the pyre of angus was in kathmandu

A good mix of stuff I'd heard of before the line up (Whitman, Conrad, Sickness, Religious Knives, Plotkin, Emeralds) and stuff I was unfamiliar with. This is a pretty eclectic mix in some ways. There is straight up noise stuff that is completely along the lines of Merzbow, as well as melodic minimalism. There is old, dated stuff (Conrad) as well as more recent albums. I love some of this (particularly the Sickness and Whitman) and there is other stuff I simply find interesting. Enjoy FOI.

a lot of this stuff works really well as background. Particularly the minimalist stuff.

just listened through the mix for the second time, most of it is pretty good. I especially like Grey Lady and Modena.. but that Sickness song was fucking horrid. Absolutely the worst thing I've heard lately.

that's a great video, but it's hard to continuously watch. I just want to go do other things with this music floating around in the background.

I think I would be the most active at minimalism shows like this, bopping around, reading, ordering beverages, etc.

When I've seen Whitman, Deupree, or Hecker I've ended up sitting down and closing my eyes. Not really zoning out, but not really thinking about anything other than the music.

The noise stuff is a different story, I tend to want to watch the artists a lot more.

I've been to a total of one noise show, and it was because xiu xiu was playing. the noise band was called yellow swans.

they placed two amplifiers facing each other, turned it up full blast, and put a tuning fork in the middle. then one guy took a tape destroyer and put it beside the amplifiers.

during the set nobody moved and hardly anyone clapped. is this standard noise show fare?
