I see them gyrating like epileptics. Which is basically what their music is.

And time signatures are not music theory snobbery, it's kinda one of the most basic concepts in music. If anyone can count out that fucking song and make any rhythmic sense of how they're playing I'd be amazed.

I can't interpret what you wrote out there, but what it looks like to me is that the kick is in quarters but is falling an eighth note after each actual quarter. That's just fucking annoying. It fucks with my internal rhythm, cause it's CONSTANTLY falling not on the downbeat. It's the kind of bullshit that bands like this pull to be experimental, and in the meantime it leaves me irritated four times per measure because the beat isn't where it's supposed to be.

don't get me wrong, i really love animal collective, but i don't know if their performance in coachella 08 will be satisfying. i mean, they're known for playing mostly unreleased material on their concerts. for instance, in coachella 06 they played 'strawberry jam' material. they're probably just gonna play songs from their upcoming album. i hope not
