Dude, old 80's band reunions are a staple of Coachella.
The Police are really different from those bands....just cuz they are 80s doesnt mean they are the same. Very different people tend to listen to Bauhaus than those who like The Police.
I like all the above mentioned bands, but I HATE the Police & Sting.

If you don't like the Police, you must be anti-abortion.

    That's very true.

You're right. The other groups are no-talent assclowns, and the Police are a seminal rock group and an enormous influence on today's indie rock.

Enormous influence on the awful "indie rock" bands I am sure.
Don't even say New Order has no talent; they've influenced many bands & probably better ones than any the Police have.

It would be amazing if the police were at Coachella. I have also heard whispers that they will be playing Bonnarroo......

So then Coachella only books no-talent assclowns. I'm sure everyone here agrees with that.

The Police to reunite for Grammy awards

    01/30/2007 1:04 PM, AP

The Police will reunite to perform at this year's Grammys ceremony, the Recording Academy announced Tuesday.

The award-winning group, which won five Grammys and turned out hits such as "Roxanne" and "Every Breath You Take," will open the event — 23 years after breaking up amid internal conflict.

The band — singer Sting, drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers — fused reggae with pop and rock, and last performed together in 2003 when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Sting fanned speculation of a Police reunion and tour when he told the Television Critics Association earlier this month that he and his former bandmates were "talking about" doing something to commemorate their 30th anniversary.

After the band split in 1984, he went on to more success as a solo artist and put out dreamy singles such as "Fields of Gold" and "Desert Rose." His latest album, a collection of 16th-century classical music called "Songs From the Labyrinth," was released in October.

Copeland examined his life in the Police in his music documentary "Everyone Stares: The Police Inside Out," which premiered at last year's Sundance Film Festival.

CBS will air the 49th annual Grammy Awards ceremony live from Los Angeles on Feb. 11.

Dude, don't take it so seriously. There is no credibility on internet messageboards.

    friedman/fox is not reliable.

police would rock the desert, especially stuart on drums. but police and madonna both have the same amount of viability for coachella, just different vibes... one for the rockers, one for the ravers. (to simplify things)

if police confirm friday, it will be a mad scrambe on tickets. and some people would have already dumped their friday tickets for $20, when they could have held out for $300. police would have equal ticket value as rage.

No I don't. I despise FoxNews. ("loony liberal" and proud of it!) But it's a logic fallacy to write off everything they broadcast and publish as entirely false simply because it comes from Rupert. Roger Friedman has had friends in the music industry for thirty years. He's spot-on about 80% of the time, which is a lot more than most gossip columnists. (which is what he really is)

Yeah, the police will be there. They will be there to arrest the rioters after Rage plays.
