I'm actually making the trek from Minnesota all the way out!!!!
And yes, we're a part of the United States.
If anyone from the area's going... love to hear from you.

Iowa here, maybe flying, maybe driving depending on the number of our crew. What were you hoping for, as far as leaving/returning/etc? And, out of curiosity, what bands inspired you to make the trek? It is in fact a trek, 4 of us drove it last year, but it's an amazing road trip, too.
im impressed by this drive.
ya fuckass.
Well, I've got a recent obsession with Stars, M.I.A., St. Vincent, The Raconteurs, Vampire Weekend, Sons and Daughters, Death Cab... all kinds of stuff.
I'm afraid if I don't make it out this year, the lineup won't be as good, from my standpoint, next time.
i am from milwaukee WI.....i might fly out for saturday so no help with the drive....its a little more then a 30 hour drive if u drive st8 threw(yes i have done it a few times).
Yup, first time. It sounds super cool.
We're coming from Fargo, most likely we'll fly out, it's probably cheaper to fly since gas is so damn expensive. We flew out last year and it's nice to sit on a plane for a couple of hours after a fun-filled weekend instead of fighting over who is gonna drive home! It is a really pretty drive though, I do suggest doing it sometime but not after festing, unless you are more behaved than we!!! Are you camping onsite? It was over 100 degrees all three days last year, but it's not like our summers....no humidity so it is just really dry. Their 103 is like our 90-comfort wise. It was really weird because we filled up our cooler on friday and kept it in our hot ass tent the whole weekend but at the end of the weekend, we still had all the ice in it? very strange....around here you have to fill the cooler every few hours...
nevermind
I've been to Palm Springs in the spring before, the weather hot, but nice.
I do plan to camp out... the only time i really object to tents is when it's cold and damp and... well you know... fall in Minnesota!
Hi,
I'm from Eden Prairie. I'll be flying into LAX the Thur before the fest, and will be onsite camping. We can maybe split a rental car? PM me if you want
-Pete
(raises hand) St. Paul here. This will be my third year - expect I will fly into San Diego and rent a car like before. I'm a camper. Probably solo but ...
I'll be the oldest guy at the Mika show next week if anyone is going. Say Hi.
I'm really hoping to do the road trip again this year, it was so awesome last year. Like a separate trip in itself from Coachella. Right now, I am going solo which would mean flying, but I think at least one friend is gonna go too, and 3-4 people in a car makes gas costs almost reasonable. I know there's been a bit of mention here and there, but are there any other Midwesterners here that would really like to road trip it? If there was a total of 4 of us somehow, I think it'd be cheaper (and certainly more fun) than flying.
Me and 3 friends are leaving From Rochester, MN. This will be our 2nd year going and we will be driving a full size van. Looking for 1 or possibly 2 people to cut the costs with us 4 for gas! COACHELLA 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!
Through travelocity, it looks like airfar is about $250 roundtrip for both Northwest and Sun Country to LAX... Not bad.
Need one more person to fill a van from minnesota. Rochester area!!!
My girlfriend and I are flying in on friday afternoon (a little late I know, gotta work Thursday unfortunately). This will be our first coachella.
Anyone able to give us a ride from the Palm Springs airport on friday in exchange of splitting the cost of a rental?
I made the drive last year from Illinois. If you get yourself four drivers and a cooler full of 40 plus sandwiches, you don't really have to stop. Last year, we stopped every six hours to get gas/use the bathroom. I think we made it in just under 24 hours, but mapquest had the thing pegged at like 27 or 28. Either way, good luck and I hope you have a roomy car.
we are!! check out my post if you're still lookin

digging up a thread from '08... I forgot about this hehe
I have 11 days off around the 'fest this year (the Sunday before-Thursday after), and I'm not too impressed with what I'm seeing for airfare right now. So if anyone from the area wants to try this I'm game...

Jamiroquai 2014 please.
I'm driving from Stevens Point, WI....so central wisconsin...I have room in my car for a couple of people (two people). The only thing that this carpool of people asks for is gas money, and maybe help with the driving.
Let me know if anyone is interested in this carpool...??...
we have three drivers...and it's 33 hours for us...rotating drivers and leaving late tuesday, so we should be great...
we'll just have to think of ways to keep ourselves entertained while driving through the country.
It would definetly not be cheaper for 4 people to fly than for 4 people to drive. Plus, who doesn't love the charm of roadtrips!
Unless they decided to do a 4 people for the price of 1 in the MN airports!
I've been through Superior 3 times in the past 3 months. I always look forward to the random love for wild rice there.
