Default Any Brits flying into L.A to share a ride?

    Hey,

Last year me and my mate flew into LAX and then managed or organise a shared van from the airport to the festival site with a couple of canadians and a guy from texas.

I was wondering how many other brits are flying in, and if anyone else wants to lift share? If memory serves me, it was about $80, so around 40 quid.

    Cheers

    Tom

hey, loving the fonejacker avatar. what a show! This sounds like a possibility for me and some friends. How many seats you got available?

flights not booked just yet but we'll be flying in LAX.
    Thanks,

    Hey Sheri,

I havnt got anything booked yet (not even flights!), but I think the vans are 8 seats, and theres 2 of us, so 6 free seats!

    I'm guessing you've been before with 588posts?!

    Yeah, last year only though.
This board does tend to get addictive, you'l have a bazillion posts before you know it.
Well, I think there's gonna be around 4/5 of us. not 100% confirmed yet though. When are you booking flights?

Ermm... not sure yet, last year we booked them about 2 weeks before we went! Probably end of March I expect!

Did you get free tickets for this year then?

nah, I didn't use willcall. Free tickets sounds nice but standing in the heat for hours just aint my thing! Are you leaving LA thurs back on the monday then?

We camped, but not in the actual site, just out and on the other side of the road behind the the main stage.
I reckon it was a lot better than the actual camping, cos we had fires and stayed up to 4/5 every morning just chilling out, instead of being caught up in the 'riots' that were meant to have happened last time! And I was 20 then, but we had beers on the go which was good!
What about you, camping or hotel??

we camped last year on site it was good the on site bar was a life saver in the mid day sun i passed out under a tree friday afternoon the heat got to me. thinking about getting a apartment this year but then you have to spend two hours getting out of the car park every night. what are the other camp sites like? getting drink in on site isn't really an issue when we arrived someone looked at me and said " you look honest" and let me straight through.

I am from London, but will be flying into LAX from NZ. Looking at flights I will be in LA by about 12. Would be good to get some transport prearranged!

Well were going to go to L.A about a week early, make a bit of a trip out of it, but am planning on leaving for the festival thursday afternoon.

I'm gonna look for van hire websites now, I'll let you know what I dig up, or if any american people read this (more than likely!) can you reccommend a company in SoCal??

    Cheers all!

    Tom :-)

hi, i'm very interested. - i was originally planning on staying at a hotel but i guess this is almost totally out of the question since leaving it so late!
haven't bought tickets (festival or flights) yet but i assume i'll be flying from heathrow to LAX. i'm planning on hanging about LA also but i was thinking more about doing for a few days after the festival not before. if you have a spare seat still please consider me!! my contact details are in my profile!

EDIT: ok i'm not sure how this works so this might be irrelevant, but i can't/don't know how to drive.

hey im going out two weeks before the festival going to go to Las Vegas and Grand Canyon as these we were things we didn't get a chance to do last year we are hiring a car but its a bitch if your under 25 they add $25 a day in extra tax. Enterprise seem to be the best doing a flat rate fee. Also if your still looking for flights we booked ours yesterday 27/1 on ebookers.com Heathrow to LAX for £299. Might be able to give a lift back to LA on Monday after the festival if anyone is stuck but we are coming from Palm springs on the Thursday.

I know Primetime Shuttle does a good job. And from what I remember they are fairly cheap, also.

I know of some other good shuttles, so just contact me if you need them.
I also think I'm dropping someone off at LAX on Monday, so I may be able to give people a ride back there if need be.

how long are planning on the journey taking. we also thought about san francisco but thought it might just be too far travel down and the back again to fly home.

Me and a mate are flying from Edinburgh to Vegas, and then driving down to Coachella, we did this last year and it took three to four hours, afterwards we're heading up the coast to LA, Big Sur and then San Francisco for a week or two.
Last year it was a but of a in and out, so we're staying longer this year.
