I DONT CARE IF IM THE MILLIONTH FUCKING PERSON TO BRING THIS UP IM MAD AND IM GOING TO SHARE MY FRUSTRATION: LAST FEW YEARS ARE HEADLINERS INCLUDED RAGE, TOOL, RADIOHEAD, THE CURE, AND NIN, JUST TO NAME A FEW; THIS YEAR WE GET JACK JOHNSON (FUCKING LAME), PORTISHEAD (NOT HEADLINE MATERIAL), AND MR. WATERS (NOT FULLY FLOYED, BUT REALLY ONLY WORTHY HEADLINER)... WHAT THE FUCK, I MEAN I KNOW HEADLINERS ARNT THE ONLY REASON TO GO, BUT FUCK WE GOT SPOILED DIDNT WE. OK I AM PROBABLY GOING TO CATCH SHIT FOR THIS FROM THE DIE HARDS, BUIT I WILL NOT BE ATTENDING COACHELLA THIS YEAR DUE TO THERE SHITTY LINEUP. I WANT TO HELP SOMEONE OUT THOUGH, I HAVE A MOTEL 6 IN PALM SPRINGS FOR THE 24-29, IF ANYBODY WANTS IT EMAIL ME AND I WILL TRANSFER IT OVER TO YOU.

There's more to life than headliners.

But I would have to agree that Kraftwerk and Roger Waters are really the only "holy crap, how did they..." artists playing this year.

I agree on the " strength " of the headliners from previous years compared to this year.
I just see it as GV giving people what they wanted, aside from Jack Johnson whom was probably just last minute since other headliners were booked.

I say this because ive seen people post here wishing for Pink Floyd and Portishead so many times.
Ofcourse I agree Portishead may not be best choice to headline Saturday night but Im waiting to see how they do.
I doubt Waters/Gilmore would play together again as Pink Floyd, and if they did the price would not only be very high but dont think Coachella would be the place for it. So Waters solo was the alternative.

Just my opinion on the matter.

I know many are doubting that this line-up is worth the cost of attending and deciding to pass on this years festival but Im sure someone could use that hotel you had reserved so cool sh!t of you to offer it instead of just letting it sit there like some other people may do.

a pink floyd reunion is NEVER going to happen. Gilmour has specifically stated many many times that he has NO intention of reuniting. he is way too interested in his solo work, which Sucks. it is the sad harsh reality folks. accept it.

perhaps for another worthy charity event....but even that seems unlikely.

I think this is the most disappointing year for headliners, but taken as a whole, I think this is an incredibly solid lineup that will look even better as people get to know the bands/artists in the months leading up to Coachella. For example, Vampire Weekend is not even close to headlining, but I wouldn't be surprised if the indie rock world is overcome with them by March. Similarly, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Hot Chip, and others on the bill drop their new records in March; the public will be primed to see their performances. Those are just a few observations based on the underbill.

Lastly, my best Coachella experience by far was catching Mogwai, Basement Jaxx, and the Blood Brothers in lieu of the Coachella stage headliners. The tents weren't as packed, the community was made up of more rabid/sincere fans, and the bands were playing their hearts out to win new converts.

Too bad finals start the day after the festival ends. Otherwise, I'd be there for my fifth time.

If Portishead is the Saturday headliner, I am happy, but if Prince is the Saturday headliner, I am bumbed.

I guess so, but at least Portishead is still there, unlike the Bees and the New Young Pony Club.

Coachella is a place beyond conventional geography, a time not measured in hours or minutes, an experience, a state of mind, an attitude, and a holy form of expression. The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival is an annual festival put on by Goldenvoice in Indio, CA. Please don't confuse the two.

Agree. Blood Brothers was a classic Coachella moment for me. Loved that set as well as Basement Jaxx and multiple Mogwai sets over the years.

However, as psyched as I am about Prince and Pink Floyd, who, oddly enough, have been two of my favorite musical acts for almost 20 years (they're the first two artists for whom I sought to own every thing they ever recorded) I will say that the profile of this Coachella lineup feels kind of odd to me. I wish that, rather than Jack Johnson, there was a headliner like MBV or Jane's or The Smiths or Radiohead that felt a little more classically Coachella. I was not into a lot of music that was getting serious radio play in the late 80's, early 90's and have enjoyed rediscovering these bands at Coachellas past.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Prince or Waters in the slightest - and I believe they're both "Coachella appropriate" if such a thing exists. But they're obviously a departure from the list of headliners of years past.

In 1989, when I was first discovering Pink Floyd and Prince, if you had told me I would someday see them in back to back nights, I think I may have spontaneously defenestrated myself.

Why does everyone feel the need to come here for their one last glory stand and announce to the board that they are not going because of reason X,Y, and Z?

Who gives a fuck? You are fucked up in the head to let pathetic reasons like this get to you. Please now eat a dick.

    YOU failed, not Coachella.
