ARE YOU GOING BECAUSE IT'S TRADITION OR YOU GENERALLY THINK THE LINEUP IS WORTH THE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS? KEEP IN MIND...YOU'RE ARE NOT ONLY PAYING FOR THE TICKETS BUT FOOD, GAS, LODGING, ETC.

this year sucks!! i will go just for the verve!!!
Tradition i think, could easily be translated into mindless infalible attendance.
the small acts is why i go, tens of nice artists. generaly, the headliners are NOT headline material. in the last couple of years they had RATM, RCHP, Tool, Madonna, Bjork..i mean c'mon?!? and now jack johnson portishead and waters. i love portishead and they are among my fave bands, but are just not that big to headline. and not to mention the other two, which are a truly disappointing headliners.
but its gonna be awesome ...
Tradition, I really really like the line-up though
at least they are not repeat headliners
as predicted by nostradamus
both. i'd see this lineup in a parking lot with makeshift stages and i'd go to coachella without seeing the poster knowing that the tradition will make the time memorable
Sladokusac must have very high standards in terms of headliners.
ya fuckass.
so there's some bands you know/ like on the lineup...but are you really super excited to go all that way to see 5 bands? that's like going to disneyland for a day and all the good rides are shut down.
you go there for tradition but it's not always worth the money and the memories aren't always as great.
ya fuckass.
I suppose I'm in the minority here but there are some great finds in this lineup. First and foremost, I finally get to see The Verve. That alone sold some tickets for me and my friends. I still worship their albums and enjoy most of what Richard Ashcroft has done solo. I've also never seen Metric, Kraftwerk, my Morning Jacket, and a few others, and am definitely going to make sure I catch those shows.
Re: The Jack Johnson thing, keep in mind there are always late additions to the bill and Jack Johnson could very well end up being what Tiesto was last year, filler for the main stage while other shows are going on around the polo grounds. I'd hate to see The Verve while Fatboy Slim is going off in the Sahara, that's for damn sure.
In GV I trust.
My only complaint is that Jack Johnson is headlining Coachella.
Typing that while listening to Kid A is actually physically painful.
But really, we need to collectively move on. And we just need to deal. Somehow. CHEMICAL BROTHERS PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY IN THIS LAND.
For sure. Chemical Brothers looked to be confirmed awhile back...same with Goldfrapp...I'm sure if one or both are added late people will change their f*ckin' tunes.![]()
an re: Jack Johnson headlining. I thought Tiesto headlining last year was pretty much as bad as it gets.
I like to think of 2004-2006 as the holy grail of Coachellas, where it just kept getting better and better, or at the very least maintained some kind of high quality. 2007 was a few notches down, IMO. I think this year brought it back up a bit, really.. aside from Jack Johnson headlining. I still am not sold on the whole 3-day thing.
2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012b, 2013a
Nah that whole 5 minute Discovery Channel intro after he was already pretty late just kind of cemented him as a Diva of epic proportions in my book. There was absolutely nothing new or innovative about what little I heard from there. I told my friends I was going to walk home if they didn't leave then and there, and they did.
Fatboy Slim owns Tiesto.
I've only been going since 2006 but ever since then I swore I'd go to every one. I don't usually watch the headliners, I go for the smaller bands that Ive loved for a while i.e. this year Tegan and Sara, AiH, I'm from Barcelona, Metric, etc. Those bands are what make the fest and I bet the people that are saying the lineup sucks don't know half of the bands on the poster, open yourself up to some new bands, you might discover something you really like!
TIESTO WAS NOT THE HEADLINER!
JACK JOHNSON IS!
