Hey chiapet and all others attending Bumbershoot, I live a block from the Seattle Center and will be hosting a weekend spanning cocktail party. If you need a base camp to stash your gear (especially those awesome posters available at Flatstock) I've got room for you. We generally get ourselves properly prepared before heading over but it's nice to be able to have a hangout if theirs a lull in the schedule. I might even be able to guide you to some of the secret free parking spots in the neighborhood.

kings, are those set times from your imagination, or did they get posted somewhere? I didn't pay much attention to Sasquatch last year to know when they go up.

invisiblerobots - that could be cool, though admittedly last year I had trouble getting there in time to even see the first band

The Sasquatch Flaming Lips show will be the 7th time that they have performed with the UFO. The structure itself has been modified between some of these shows, so it may continue to evolve. The UFOs at the Zoo DVD gives an idea of what it originally looked like, but now there are a lot of mirrors on the bottom of the UFO instead of many of the lights, and they raise it up so that they can still play with their large video screen behind them after the "landing." I won't spoil anything beyond that; as advertised, it is an amazing spectacle and not to be missed.

    • September 15, 2006 - Oklahoma City Zoo (Later released as the UFOs at the Zoo live DVD)
    • December 30, 2006 - San Franciso, New Year's Eve Eve
    • December 31, 2006 - Los Angeles, New Year's Eve
    • June 17, 2007 - Bonnaroo, Late Night
    • July 27, 2007 - Tulsa, DFest
    • September 7, 2007 - Chicago, Aragon Theater
    • December 31, 2007 - Oklahoma City Convention Center, New Year's Eve

(An 8th UFO show was scheduled for September 15, 2007 at the first Monolith Festival, but the festival organizers cut the UFO because of low ticket sales and the extra costs to mount the UFO show.)

I am no sure if I believe those are the official set times. But they probably are. Maybe I am the only here who thinks this, but Battles vs Flight of the Concords is an awesome conflict. I had zero interest in seeing FotC. I am just really bummed about having to miss Ghostland for the Flaming Lips. Or maybe I will just skip the first half hour of the Flaming Lips... Hmmm...

    Cool Re: Sasquatch

I just got my tickets off ebay. 232$ for a 3 day pass (mediocre price i guess)..

Anyways this means I am for sure going now.. If anybody from the Bay Area is offering a ride or needs a ride msg me.. I am trying to get a carpool started or join one (to avoid paying a lot for camping and gas)..

When going to the 3-day pass site on ticketmaster it says:
THIS 3 DAY PACKAGE IS NOW OFF SALE AND WILL NOT GO BACK ON SALE. WAS ONLY AVAILABLE THROUGH MARCH 9TH.

The single day tickets are still available at 66$ + 10$ service fees + shipping

So essentially I got it for the same as I would have on ticketmaster, but don't have to worry about 3 different tickets coming in at 3 different times.

That was just for the ~$150 ones that were only available the first weekend. I'm not sure why they never removed that item or replaced it with the normal pass.

    Unhappy Re: Sasquatch

FYI...since I've seen a lot of people looking for 3-day passes.

I just found out that I can't go to Sasquatch . Selling my 3-day pass on eBay (the total w/shipping is $182.50). Even though I'll still lose money on the deal...just trying to get back what I paid for them. Hope everybody enjoys the show...should be great.

I know it's early to be thinking about this, but any tips on stuff to bring, from folks who've gone before & camped? I'm a bit anxious about the weird weather from the stories from the last few years, but also am trying not to bring too much since I'm flying.

Obviously bringing tent + rain fly + ground cover + extra stakes & tie downs, sleeping bag, & water resistant windbreaker. Any thing else I must have?

The Gorge can (and probably will) provide the full range of weather from blistering hotness to brutal hailstones the size of marbles along with the occasional gale force windstorm. Dress is layers and bring waterproof sunscreen.

I don't know where to begin coming from Phoenix. I guess it's jeans and sweatshirts. I have a brand new tiny tent from Walmart that was $17 and I guess i'll just roll up the tent in that and check it as luggage and i'll carry on my clothes. Rain fly? Hmm I might be screwed there. I'm guessing my tent didn't come with one. What's ground cover? I guess I might have to pick up some things.

A tarp of some sort works. Keeps the bottom of your tent dry.

fax, did it really not come with a rain fly? every tent I've had, has had one. Might be worth unpacking and checking the packaging to see if they included the rain fly and/or ground cover. You definitely want a ground cover, even if it's not currently raining, the ground could be damp.

invisiblerobots, I've never camped through that kind of weather, is there anything else obvious that I'm forgetting? Less worried about the heat, more worried about torrential rain or hail

I'm buying one of these, I guess I will include the rainfly in my purchase (another $40). good that it's off the ground, so I shouldn't have to worry about that aspect.

I can't think of anything that hasn't already been mentioned. The campground is a huge rolling grassy field with few landmarks which can make returning to your campsite challenging in the dark. We usually try to pick a spot near a fenceline or one of the sprinkler rigs. Also, try to situate your tent away from one of the main roads. After the hailstorm the roads were a muddy mess and I saw some unfortunate people near us whose tents got covered in mud from spinning out tires on the road. Oh, extra dry socks are always good.

g0k1ngsg0, that tent kicks so much ass! There could be a river raging underneath you and you'd be fine.

I'll have to check. I'm assuming it does if most do but i'm gonna make sure.
