Actually most people are going to intend on partying...then fall asleep as soon as they hit the bed/sleeping bag. 12+ hours of the desert sun and tens of thousands of people takes it's toll.

Sitting around, drinking "water", listening to crappy bongo playing, and meeting people around you who are just as excited as you are about the next two days (well, three days this year). Last year, they had a huge blow-up screen and played past Coachella performances (2004 I think?).

They were showing the Coachella movie.

The first night (Thursday this year, Friday in years past) is fun -- drinking, hanging out, meeting people and setting up camp. Saturday night is a lot more subdued. Everyone is exhausted, but they wait up for everyone from their group to return to the campsite to talk about the day's events. If you're back first, you'll have a beer or three. If you're last, maybe one. By Sunday night, you think you'll wait up, but you'll be just completely drained and exhausted, will "lay down" until they get back and then wake up at 7am the next morning.
