If the guitarist of Hawthorne Heights is the musician you'd choose to resurrect above all others to join your super group... you don't belong here.
As for my own Supergroup:
Vocals and vocal effects: Imogen Heap
Vocals: Andre 3000
Guitar and Ondes Martenot: Jonny Greenwood
Bass: Digitally Programmed by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Cristo
Sequencers by: Olof Dreijer (of The Knife)
Keyboards by: Nancy Whang (of LCD Soundsystem)
Drums (electric): Arno Kammermeier (of Booka Shade)
Drums (sampled): J Dilla
A digitally programmed bass isn't a bass, so that doesn't count. =P
If a digitally programmed bass doesn't count as a bass player, than I don't want a bass player at all!
most of these groups would have the worst chemistry in the world. starting with that dude who said he wanted guy to program his basslines.
gonna make another one....
vocals - Zack De La Rocha
lead guitar - Adan Jones
rhythm guitar - Tom Morello
bass - FLEA
drums - Jon Theodore
Guitar/Vocals: Kurdt
Bass: Krist
Drums: Dave
and for my classic rock edition:
vocals - John Fogerty
lead guitar - Jimmy Page
rhythm guitar - Brian Wilson
bass - Roger Waters
drums - Keith Moon
Because you obviously have enough personal knowledge of each of these musicians to make a judgment on whether or not they'd like each other and play well together. Saying that they won't play well together is even more presumptuous than my saying they will.most of these groups would have the worst chemistry in the world. starting with that dude who said he wanted guy to program his basslines.
Thirdly, you're not giving enough credit to the old looped bass. Practically every electronic or hip-hop song on earth has one. The good majority of LCD Soundsystem's 45:33 is using a programmed bass. If it's running off of something like Ableton, you have a lot of flexibility in how to make it sound live.
And lastly, super groups are notoriously flexible - most BSS or New Pornographers songs use different combinations of talent for different songs - so it's not like everybody would play together at the same damn time.
And that's the last bit of defending I'll do for my imaginary super group.
Vocals: Trent Reznor
Guitar: Paul Gilbert
Bass: Les Claypool
Drums: Thomas Pridgen
That would be a dream come true.
