I love Bill Simmons. I'm friendly in real life with Jamie, his first intern (although I don't get to see him too often), and I met Bill one day when they were helping Jamie move in with an old friend of mine. He's pretty nice, and his wife is really cool.

This is good news. Whenever, I read his columns I always think to myself "I wonder if this guys an asshole in real life?" He can sometimes come off as a pretentious ass in his blogs, but I imagine it's more a result of him being funny rather than how he really is.

A guy I know who knows him better than I do (they were both writers on Jimmy Kimmel) have said that he can be a little bit of an oddball and sort of full of himself. I can imagine that's the case sometimes. But he's a self-acknowledged weirdo in many aspects, and many people get incorrectly pegged as arrogant and aloof, so who knows.

I fucking love Sports guy - especially during football season.

And I think Sports Gal is funny as hell sometimes, too. But I don't really give a shit about her picks. The whole, "I don't know anything about football we're the odd couple LOL" angle gets a little much for me sometimes. She's funnier when she's talking about things independent from their life, in my opinion.

And his mailbag is usually my favorite, too. The way he reacts to his readers is A+.

DEFINING PLAYOFF GAME
For the Patriots, it hasn't happened yet. The Celts had Game 5 of the East finals against the Hawks, when they rolled off an unprecedented 25-0 run in the third quarter to clinch the series. 25-0!!!! The Pats can't top that one unless they beat the Chargers 56-0 and force Tomlinson, Rivers and Norv to cry at the exact same time on the sidelines. Anything less and they lose this category.

Yeah, he has been a little on the annoying side since he moved out to LA. I still read most of his stuff, but he definitely ain't what he used to be.
