Default Great on CD - Terrible Live

Rarely is this the case with bands, but it happens. Who do you think is better on CD than live?

From my experience, these two bands need to work on their live show
    The Killers
    Peter, Bjorn, and John

I know i'm going to get shit about this. but i saw LCD soundsystem at the VFest 2007, and it sucked. mainly it's the organizers fault cause their set time was at 4:00PM on the outdoor second stage. Broad daylight and I imagine it's better if they have a cool set of lighting. The crowd was not feeling it that much. besides, they put em against the Beastie Boys in the Main stage. sucks cause i love them

completely disagree. I think Girl Talk live is one of the most energetic shows out there right now. But I can't stand listening to him on CD. Seein him in two weeks in Chicago and can't wait

I haven't seen the Liars live since 2002 but I thought they were great when I saw them...but their line up has changed so that might have something to do with it...

HA! If you think Deerhoof is bad now! I saw them at ATP 2002 @ UCLA and it was just fucking madness...there wasn't really any song structures what so ever..just them bashing their instruments for 30 minutes....I was shocked when I heard them on CD because they were actually "songs"....

I'd have said Girl Talk myself but I don't know if he qualifies since he isn't great on CD either. The only group I can think of is Happy Mondays -- their set in the Sahara last year, as has been mentioned numerous times before, was horrendous. I stuck it out for 15 minutes waiting for it to get better before leaving 'cause I'd had enough.

I wanna second The Killers. Not that they are "great" on CD, but they're certainly a decent band, but their live show is amazingly dull.

Also, I'm going to get my ass kicked for this, but I thought Blonde Redhead were awful at Vegoose. I've never seen them anywhere else, though, and I don't think a big open field is a good atmosphere for them.

I was really disappointed in El-P...so many rap-show cliches.

I disagree with Bloc Party. They are a good live band. Girl Talk is also a good live "act".

Now Smashing Pumpkins are bad - just based on Billy's live singing.

You can't judge the Mondays by that performance really - they werent all there, plus it actually got better about midway thru. They have been stellar in years past.

The Shins, Bright Eyes during the Digital Ash tour,

Deerhoof, Girl Talk, Liars, Air, Smashing Pumpkins are all wonderful live. I can't see how anyone who likes Liars albums (plural, not just Drums Not Dead), because they accurately reflect the sound of their previous albums live.

I saw Peter Bjorn & John, LCD Soundsystem and Smashing Pumpkins. I loved all of those live shows.

Deerhoof didn't work out for me at Coachella in 2006... Though this reminds me I need to put my Deerhoof albums in iTunes.
