NEW GOLDFRAPP = YAWN?

Ok I'm all for artist doing a change in direction, but sometimes those changes don't work.

Case in point:

The new Goldfrapp single, A&E. While it's not completely a "new" direction, as it has a lot in common with her earlier work, I think it lacks any sort of interesting quality. It's pretty, nice, sort of melodic, but then again so is Carrie Underwood. I am already missing the sleezy, sexy, sharp electronic bite of Supernature and Black Cherry.

Hopefully, the A&E single is not representative of the entire new record. Color me unimpressed at this point. But being the fan I am - I'm sure I'll give it many more chances, and still end up buying it.

I totally agree with you. I heard the whole album a couple of days ago and it was pretty boring. Not bad, but really different from the others. I remember getting supernature and liking it from the get go. Not the same feeling now.

Still, if they make and appearance at the festival, I'll def catch their set.

"A&E" is the worst track on Seventh Tree. Seventh Tree took a couple of listens for it to grow on me, but I now believe it's their best album to date. It has a couple of safe tracks and lacks a little bit of the edge that Felt Mountain has, but it's solid from start to finish. You have no heart if you think "Clowns" is not a beautiful song.

I really like the new album. Reminds me a lot of Felt Mountain. I don't think much of the single.

The new video is very bizarre. I think the song is pretty good. Kind of a meld of Felt Mountain with some of their more recent work. I definitely am happy with the shift back to this side of things. That disco shit was getting old.

Their music is no stranger to ending up on TV shows. I'm sure you're right that A&E will end up on some CW crap show. I didn't like much of the sleazy dance stuff, so I don't mind the departure. It's all about Alison's voice.

listen to it a couple of times and im sure you will enjoy this album.
goldfrapp is truly into the wilderness thing- they have taken it further with the A & E video. The video reminds me of the FLY ME AWAY video that was never released inits entirety.
