I'm glad this was bumped because I had been meaning to solicit advice...

Shure E2Cs (snagged and started crackling after 2 years or so)
Shure E4Cs (washed them... damnit!)
Shure SE520s (I had to step up for the replacement, right?)

I love. LOVE. the 520s. Yeah, expensive ($350 or so) but they're more comfortable and stylish than the E4Cs, with somewhat better bass response due to having a discreet woofer.

There is definitely a point of diminishing returns though, and I'd fully recommend the SE210s like the original poster suggested.

I'm looking for a replacement of my bose in-ear headphones. nobody should bother with those, they're awful. the replaceable ear pieces fall off and get lost all the time (I eventually glued mine on), the wires on mine are fraying after only a year of use, and the plug sticks out too far and got bent. awful. never again.

are the Shure models free of those problems?

Can anyone recommend a decent pair of head phones that are not earbuds, but are also not as large as Kitt Kat's glasses?

With the exception of the Sennheiser PX200, most other head phones recommended in this thread are quite large.

I'd call the lower end grados medium sized. SR60 or SR80. There's another thread with the same title somewhere in the music lounge where you might find some answers too.

Agree with everyone who said Shure 210, worth the price because of durability in addition to comfort, sound. I wear them running and love them.

I was thinking about some noise cancellings but I don't know that I need them with the Shures working out so well.

I have tried in-ear UE's, Skull Candy, different Sonys and wasn't impressed with any of them.

Anyone have a set with a built in mic for cell phone that they like?

I haven't done research on anything, though. As of now, all I've done is read reviews (which don't amount to too much, but still). I'm broke as shit, though, so my mid-sized Sony headphones work just fine.

Monster Cable makes them. Nuff said. If there is anyone that is guaranteed to make overpriced garbage, they are it.

Seriously, if you want decent mid-range headphones that are over-ears go with the Grados mentioned above, or a step up to the Sony MDR7506.

7506 is pretty much the same thing with better low/high response. it's just a matter of whether the extra 40 bucks is worth it to ya. but yeah... great fucking headphones.

i enjoyed the 600 because of the mid range. enough low end, good high end and good mids. gives you a really good sound without overpowering bass, which in turn makes it easier to que up your next track. at least for me it did.

I forget what model it was, either the 7506 or the 600s or somewhere around there, but whatever one says "professional" on it was basically a scam. They are almost the same exact headphones as whatever they were supposed to be replacing. The V6s are very affordable for the quality you are getting. And comfortable as hell. I'm a fan.

They aren't that great of cans imo. the sound is solid, as you'd expect, but they are really damn uncomfortable... However, if you can hold out and save up... the 225s are incredible.

I got the Creative EP-610 buds while working for Dell and so far theyve been a great for everything from working out to flying. The sound is solid, they dont come fall out, and they have great noise cancellation. Best of all they only cost $30
