    Default Headphones

Just wondering what everyone here uses/prefers?

I just picked up a pair of Shure SE210's and am pretty impressed so far. I have 30 days to truly break them in and decide if they are the right ones. I love the foam earpieces, pretty much like earplugs where you twist them up and place them in your ear canal until it expands into place. Way more comfortable than the rubber ones on my old in-ear's.

Sony MDR-V700's. I know they're the "DJ kind", but I love them personally for my own use. The bass is awesome on them, it blocks outside noise great, and they're fucking loud. I don't like the "in-ear" style...just regular earplugs don't even fit/feel right inside my ears....so I can't do those kind.

I have som Sony ''street style'' headphones. They do the job. But my dog got a hold of them and chewed up the foam on them, so I might be looking for some new ones. Im going to get some noise cancelling ones this time around I think

    I've got Sony MDR-V300s.
Same as Menik, I find the bass response to be great and the comfort unbeatable. They're relatively durable as I've had these for several years now and used them almost daily until my iPod died. I think I paid $60 for them. Best headphones I've ever owned.

I have both the Shure s210 and the sony mdr-v900s...

My Shures are new, and I haven't used my sony's since I got them. I love the 210s, my dad has the next step up and they are amazing (albeit probably not worth the price jump). I would recommend both of these headphones to anyone, but the v900s are definitely for studio/design use. Big and bulky, they don't compare to the 210s in terms of portability. They sound amazing too.

Can those plug into your PC? I just looked them up online and it was unclear. My dad is looking for some wireless headphones for PC use.

    thanks

I have a pair of the Sony MDR-V300s as well. They aren't bad, I use them mainly for DJing because I don't mind if I blow out the drivers, being that I just bought a pair of Sennheiser 485s. Haven't arrived yet, but the reviews I read were very favorable, and they were only $70.

Here's all my headphones I could find....those red Sony's I just couldn't stand...they looked sexy, sound pretty good, but they just fit me like shit...I could never get it right...wasted 50 bucks on them and the different color caps....they're like brand new just collecting dust. I use to use just those cheap $10 sony earbuds (went through like 5 pairs)....the MDR's are the best investment yet though.

i've had the Sennheiser HD 535 for about 11+ years now. i replace the ear padding when it gets worn (about 3 times) and replaced the cord once. i love how clean it sounds at higher volumes.

A few years ago i got my mother the wireless Sennheiser 65. She's very hard of hearing and uses them for occasional TV viewing. She loves them. Although i get picky with them because of the minor buzz that i hear (a problem with most wireless from what i read). The wireless station hooks up to the headphone jack on the TV, so i see no problem with something like it hooking up to a computer.

ya, they just go into the normal output for headphones .. the base just plugs in and charges the headphones when you are not using them .. i think they are comfortable, but they do cover your whole head ... canx**

i just became deaf in my left ear about a year and a half ago and i haven't decided whether it's worth it to replace the really nice headphones i stepped on and broke since i can never get the full effect. it's really pathetic, i have to switch them back and forth depending on the song playing and which elements i want to hear.

is there some way to set your playback device to mono so all sound comes out of one earphone?

Big fan of canalphones... sound fantastic (don't assume they sound like earbuds just because they're small!) and have better noise reduction than active noise-cancelling ones like the Bose.

I can wear them on an airplane (knocking out most of the engine noise), crank them up REAL loud and still not disturb the person next to me.

I also have upgrade-itis... so far I have owned:

Shure E2Cs (snagged and started crackling after 2 years or so)
    Shure E4Cs (washed them... damnit!)
Shure SE520s (I had to step up for the replacement, right?)

I love. LOVE. the 520s. Yeah, expensive ($350 or so) but they're more comfortable and stylish than the E4Cs, with somewhat better bass response due to having a discreet woofer.

There is definitely a point of diminishing returns though, and I'd fully recommend the SE210s like the original poster suggested.

edit: Just realized this thread is so old. DAMN YOU GPS!
