I take them out running once a week or so and they've been great. They truly eliminate all exterior noise and let you to focus on the workout. Like many other bud style headphones they come with adapters for different sized ears but the stock ones worked perfectly for me and have never fallen out. So far the stock pieces have never come off the buds either. Only complaint would be that the cords get tanged easily but I have minimized that by coiling them up when i put them in my pocket or backpack.

Dell gave me two pairs a year or so apart and I have the same positive thing to say about both.

    - Ive also put them through the washing machine multiple times and they still work like new

What do you guys use big headphones for? I haven't found a use for them, other than mixing records.

I got the Sennheiser HD 448 closed ear headphones are they are wonderful!! The mids and highs are detailed and I have been able to pick up details in my music that I wasn't able to before.

Overall look at other reviews for these headphones but these are solid headphones for all genres of music. If you are looking for really good headphones without breaking the bank these are it.

Just detailed listening. I feel like I get better response from drivers that are significantly bigger than earbuds. They certainly aren't as portable, but I like how they sound better. And they are more comfortable for me.

So do you use them when you travel or actually at home, too?

Both. I think the over the ear kind helps eliminate car or plane noise, and like I said, for extended listening periods I like to have something that is comfortable. The earbuds I just purchased were bought with that in mind, so these will probably be my new travel headphones as long as I like the sound. My next headphone purchase will probably be something from Grado, either the 225i's or the 325i's. Depends on how much I want to spend, really.

I exercise wearing my Shures every day. They stay in the ear quite well, they are really hard/strong so not subject to breaking if you drop them, and they sound incredible.

I'm looking to spend about $100. I read the reviews on Amazon and a few other sites and they seem to be recommended by many. I'm just stuck between the Grado SR80i and the Alessandro MS1.

Word. As a warning though, I had a really hard time listening on these guys for much longer than 90 minutes because of the discomfort...

ive had my shures for a few years and they're showing now signs of slowing down. i take them to school everyday and they've survived extensive backpack abuse just fine and the sound quality is second to none. i did a ton of research into all the possible options for good, affordable, sound-isolating, in-ear headphones and imo shure takes the cake. granted this was a few years ago so i don't know what has come out since then but its a safe bet for shure (get it? its a pun!)

I don't like my shures at all. they are completely devoid of bass. I've been meaning to replace them but have had bad luck with the last few pairs of in-ear headphones so am hesitant.

Any insight on whether or not the 325s are worth another hundred? I've read some reviews, but I am not sure if they sound a hundred dollars better or not.

Do the 225s cover your ears completely or sit on top of them?

they aren't like the sonys, but they do cover your ear... they are still semi-open though.

i've never tried the 325s, but the guy i normally bought my gear from in seattle said that he didn't think the 325s were really worth the cash... that if you wanted to go up from the 225s you were best saving up more for the reference series.

Yeah, I would say $300 is my absolute max, so I may be better suited with going for the 225s. I still need to complete my home theater setup as well, but that is years down the line.

it'd be hard to justify spending more than 300 on headphones for me... i'd rather funnel the extra money towards better speakers.

On entirely the opposite end of the spectrum, my old Creative OMX52s started dying just in time for Christmas and Heartland, so I'm looking for something to replace them.

I need some new ones that are maybe 30 - 50 bucks, that clip on over my ears. I don't want big giant DJ cans because they need to be discreet and pocketable, and I don't want in-ear ones because I have my tragus pierced so I can't comfortably wear them. Any suggestions?

This is a problem with the Shures if you don't get a good seal in the ear canal. Remember that they're not like earbuds that you just stick in your ear any old way, you really need to get the seal right. I suggest experimenting with the different kinds of ear inserts they give you to find the right type and size that works best.
