im a mega fan, saw them at the Roo (waited 8 hours at the same stage to guarantee a good spot, battled dehydration, heat stroke, and the decemberists), and at house of blues in myrtle beach, before that cunt meg canceled the tour, but i feel like a gig at coachella would be a next logical step, or maybe its just wishful thinking

theres always been the grand tradition of bands headlining a music fest one year, then another one the following, i mean RHCP, radiohead, daft punk etc. etc.

could the white stripes maybe be the next band on the list?

I remember when NME reported that the White Stripes claim they may NEVER tour again. I think a few more outlets picked up the story like Pitchfork. I'm not sure how true it is because NME can be kind of dodgy at times.

Complete control freak. Haven't fans seen how he treats meg? He's definately abuses her on some level. Yeah, I am gonna get shit for saying it. They played a show in San Francisco the day of Meg's birthday a few years ago and you could see him screaming at her on the side of the stage screaming at her because her drumming was off then he cut the show short. They only played for like 40 minutes, if that.

Seriously, I don't see how you can call Jack's attitude towards Megs as "controlling" since TWS are virtually a solo project. Hell, Jack White could put out a solo album and most of you TWS fans would be content because it would be exactly the same as any of the other TWS material.

I mean, fuck, it's just the mentality that after Jack does EVERY fucking thing in the band, and she can't do the simple, child-like drumming right!? Nothing deserves verbal abuse. Jack wanted her to drum. Jack keeps her drumming to "child-like". If he wanted a more experienced drummer he would have sought one out from the get. If it is so much his band and he does all the work why would he say it was up to her whether they toured? Why wouldn't he just find someone else? The fact that he said that publicly just makes me believe even more that he pressures her which leads to the shit she is dealing with mentally.

If you watch their interaction he definitely looks like some freaking scary abuser, imo.

i saw them at bonnaroo and all i felt was love between the two, he played that song "a martyr for my love for you" and sang the ending parts right to her face, the whole crowd (or maybe just the people around me, or maybe just my head) went "ooohhhh", like you would do in elementary school

especially considering Icky Thump took three weeks to record and that was the longest the White Stripes have ever taken to record an album by a long shot. You would think if he was a control freak it would take months in the studio before anything got done.

I agree. Why else would he stay in a band with his ex-wife for this long, especially since he's remarried and fathered a child? I always got the sense that there was a deep bond between them, deeper than a conventional romantic relationship but somewhat similar.
