JJ abrams has said many times it's not Godzilla. He has gone as far to say the creature is not even reptilian.

Only time will tell..

Abrams have not specified and declared what the monster will be, Abrams stated that he created a new monster after him and his son visited a toy store in Japan. "We saw all these Godzilla toys, and I thought, we need our own monster, and not King Kong, King Kong's adorable. I wanted something that was just insane and intense."

A list of what the monster will not be has also been confirmed. The monster is not: Godzilla, King Kong, a giant Crab, a Lion, a live action version of Voltron, or an alien known as the Parasite.

My main issue is that it is being filmed like people's home movies which means lots of hand held shaky camera work which only gives me a headache in the movies like the Blair Witch and Dancer in the Dark.
