Default Bands/Artists Releasing Albums in Early '08 (to fuel the speculation)

So those who have followed Coachella lineups in the past know that many of the bands playing typically are ones who are touring in support of new albums. This means that bands that release albums in the months shortly before and after Coachella would seem like the most likely candidates to play the festival (and this has definitely held true in the past). So purely to fuel speculation and add some names to the consideration pool that I haven't yet seen, I'm giving you all a nice fun list of bands releasing albums in the first half of 2008, do with it what you will.

There are a few interesting ones that I felt like no one had mentioned much or at all in threads up until now. First off is Franz Ferdinand, who would use Coachella as a kind of re-introduction to the world before their album is released, after disappearing for a couple of years. Second is Bauhaus, who played in 2005, but are releasing their farewell album this Spring and have said they aren't doing a full tour, a one-off Coachella performance seems possible however. And finally, Silver Mt. Zion seems like an intriguing band to play Coachella as well, we may never get Godspeed!, but this might be the next best thing.

I think people would foam at the mouth for a Godspeed showing but we all know it will never happen...But I do believe that Bauhaus stated no shows with the final album...

If Coldplay were headlining again, Id be highly choked...the only thing that would make that better would be if Prodigy were in the Sahara at the same time... Bboys, REM, Radiohead would be my fav 3 headliners, at the moment.
    Upcoming Shows:
    Kasabian/Bo Ningen: 10/1 @ Metro
Coachella: 4/10-12 @ Empire Polo Fields

I don't think Franz Ferdinand will make it because they can make more money on tour by themselves and they would not benefit from the exposure of Coachella.

LadyTron are still relatively unknown so I could see them making it. The 06 show was good IMHO.

And I think the Bauhaus thing is a possibility because they got good exposure from the 05 perfomance (which was awe inspiring) and 3 out of 4 of them live in Sourthern California... in fact if Bauhaus don't make it I can see a Love & Rockets reunion for the same reason (L&R is the So Cal based Bauhaus members minus the lead singer who splits his time between London and Istambul). The Haskins bros live in LA while Daniel Ash lives in Ojai.

I could see Oasis as the surprise headliner for one of the nights. In fact I would bet on it.

No chance of Coldplay. El Jefe said in an interview that Coldplay was not was Coachella was about and that it was a mistake as a headliner.
