    Default What Say You Coachella?

    There are always discussions during the rumor period about this band doesn't fit, or that band isn't a "coachella" band. There seems to be some type of mold that some folks think Coachella has to keep certain types of bands away. My question to you is what genre of music has never been represented? What arguments do you have about why a band may not ever play at Coachella? I'm of the belief that there is no band ruled out because of the type of music they are or how they don't fit. I think GV simply tries to put together a very diverse lineup every year from dance, electronic, pop, hip hop, country, indie, punk, rap, folk, ska...hmm have they had ska?

    Anyway, what say you coachella attendees?

    I think that there are definitely certain bands which, while popular in their respective genre, Coachella would almost certainly not book. For instance, Phish. Huge popularity/following, but they're just a way better fit at Bonnaroo. They don't mesh with the Coachella vibe.

    Soul music. Blues. And Funk.

    I'd personally like to see Sade, Angie Stone, Sly Stone(!), India Arie, Remy SHand, Erykah Badu, Solomon Burke, BB King, Musiq Soulchild among others.


    I'd like to see Coachella get even more diverse with their artist selections. It's such a great way for people to check out different kinds of music. And since Coachella happily gets artists from all over the world, including a dozen Africans beating on drums, I don't see why they wouldn't put some neo-soul at the place. Besides, 1 more soul artist means one less emo band
