OXEGEN 2008 today announces the addition of Chemical Brothers, Hot Chip, French dance supremos Justice, Aphex Twin and the genre crossing Alabama 3 who are all set to play this year’s 3 day festival, taking place from 11th-13th July 2008 at Punchestown Racecourse, Naas, County Kildare (subject to licence).
With R.E.M., Kings Of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs, The Fratellis, Interpol, Counting Crows, The Raconteurs and Ian Brown already confirmed, OXEGEN 08 is living up to its billing as the ‘Greatest Rock n Roll Weekend of the Year’.
Dance pioneers the Chemical Brothers have led the way in bringing intelligent dance music into mainstream music culture. With hits such as Hey Boy, Hey Girl, Galvanise and Setting Sun the duo have forged a partnership that produces hit after hit of irresistible rock infused dance genius.
Electronica sensations, Hot Chip are renowned for their unique sound. Their 2006 hit Over and Over had dance floors throughout Europe buzzing for months and this year’s Ready For the Floor is already doing the same in clubs throughout Ireland.
Another act fast making a name for themselves are Justice. The French duo known for 2007’s hit D.A.N.C.E and the 2004 collaboration with Simian on We Are Your Friends are also renowned for their remixes of artists such as Franz Ferdinand and Klaxons.
Aphex Twin (aka Richard D James) is the alpha male of electronica, an artist who has constantly pushed the boundaries of electronic music. His albums “Selected Ambient Works” volumes I and II revolutionised the genre fusing epic soundscapes with dark beats and bass lines and the video for “Windowlicker” is one of the most disturbing music videos ever produced.
Alabama 3 pride themselves in producing upbeat music to party to. The band makes music for the sheer love of it and as a result their live shows are eclectic and entertaining. Their performance at OXEGEN this year is sure to wow the crowds.
